So In LA And other parts of Southern Cali, tagger crews popped up because shit was the cool thing to do in the 80’s. Sometime around the late 80’s these tagger crews turned into tag banging crews because of their environment. These tag banging crews were seen as like little brothers to the gangs and were connected because the taggers usually had family or friends in the established gangs. So if the taggers had beef they would hit up the Varrios and that’s how they got guns. Lots of tagging crews even beefed it with established gangs. Around the early-mid 90’s the Mexican mafia came down hard on all the tag bangers and pretty much had huge meetings all over Southern Cali mainly LA letting the tagger crews know either join a hood or start up your own or every time you gets hit the county jail you’ll get wacked. Tag banging still continued though but shit definitely calmed down and more people just started joining hoods.

Dead on 🎯 especially back then when say ur from a gang u can't just keep points from rival gangs, but corrupt police, taggers,party crews. People think it's JUST gangs lol
@tnunez664 ай бұрын
The eme put a green light on all tag bangers, so their choice was to hang it up or go all the way. Most already had enemies and bodies so it only made sense to either join a gang or turn your crew into a gang

6:47 They're just taggers, but a good amount of tagging cliques end up turning into real gangs for whatever reason. They probably end up taggin over an actual gang starting a beef, and next thing you know they need to defend themselves and start banging back.
@1992CaliBoy4 ай бұрын
Tagging crews turn into gangs because say a member of the crew kills a rival tagger of whatever and ends up in prison, he MUST program and ally himself with the mob, so now they tell em do this or that and we'll give the blessing of the 13 to ur crew. So they turn into gangs sometimes with their acronyms still attached Head hunters of Anaheim was a tagging crew, devious hoodlums, SSK, actually a lot of hoods in LA and OC started off as crews but turned into gangs. Or else they would get the green light. As to where gangs have rules no women no children no rapes etc. etc. but it was all hands on crews when they would diss the gangs Kinda like comparing dogs to wolves. Different species different rules, the taggers are on their own as to where the gangs under 13 would ALL have to handle the crews the mafia wanted gone

In mexico in the late 2000s there was this trend called trepes, you basically climbed to the top of a building, usually 3 or 4 stories with a friend and what they did is go to the edge of the building and have your friend hold your legs and you just write your tag on the front top part of the building. This was more popular in TJ. Many people have died doing this though

Tag banging was basically tagging crews trying 2 be gangs n alot of them did or became clicks 4rm gangs cuz the gangs would pressure the taggers or tagging crews 2 get in2 their hoods some would say yes others would say no n would defend themselves n eventually become a gang do 2 members getting locked up n going 2 LA county n prison

Yup. And the crews are more like dogs as to the gangs were like wolves. Even tho the taggers put up a fight they're massively outnumbered the real threat was the gangs. The taggers who have beef with gangs couldn't get the backing/defense from the mafia as to where gangs have the backing and numbers.

Tag bangers are foos who tag their hoods, cross out others, write their hood name which was given by the homies from the neighborhood. Different from writing crews who only stick to writing their name and their crew for example the LA towers. Los Angeles is another world when it comes down to graffiti. Tag banging graffiti you see mostly inside the neighborhoods where gangs are.
