I used to make Popeyes biscuits and they got mad at me for rolling them out a little thicker than normal so they'd be soft. My biscuits flew off the warmer while the other biscuits in there just got jealous. They make you roll them out between two metal bars attached to the table and they not sposed to be any thicker than the bar.

I would agree, they are like hockey pucks. However considering they are comparing them to scones (which they are more familiar with) yes, they are fluffy, in that comparison. Scones are closer to concrete hardness.

The red beans and rice are actually the only thing I think is worth going to Popeye's for. Their other food isn't *bad* but it's nothing special and a little overpriced (though that's basically all fast food these days so nothing against them specifically). But a bowl of red beans and rice with a packet of Cajun Sparkle mixed in is the best.

Just a tip here on how to drink items like sweet tea. The point is not to sip it up all at once. In the southern heat, the ice will melt. So instead of your drink being watered down, you will retain the flavor of the drink. As for the Red beans and rice, you have to mix the rice with the beans before eating. Enjoyed the video. 😊

Al Copeland, the founder of Popeyes, had originally opened a restaurant called Chicken on the Run to very little success in 1972. He closed down to rework his recipes and reopened only three days later as Popeyes Mighty Good Fried Chicken, taking the name of Gene Hackman’s character in the film “The French Connection,” which was released only the year before. In the movie, Hackman played Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle, a New York City cop obsessed with taking down a drug operation. It won five Oscars at the 44th Academy Awards. And it had nothing to do with fried chicken.

Hello New Zealand family My name is Timothy Lee,I'm an old 72 Year old US Army veteran US Military police Corp. Only watched your site on KZfaq a couple of times and it's already one of my favorites. I love the way u all are so adventurous and willing to go anywhere and try anything to eat in the USA and believe me that takes a bit of courage, I know. U remind me of me after I got back home after servicing over seas in the early 70s. The US wasn't to friendly to all us serving in a certain country way back then so instead of staying home I traveled to Europe and ended up staying for over 10 years. I traveled all of Europe, Asia, Africa and loved it all. I was like y and ur family, I couldn't get enough of all the beautiful things I had seen, the beautiful people and all the great food I had tried. To cut it short keep the adventurous side of ur family going,to me u all are KICKASS awesome,i love ur beautiful family. P.S. if u really like to try a great dessert try strawberries washed and green cut off , dip first in sour cream, then finally dip in brown sugar. I believe u will love it. Bye for now take care and God bless

Late last night I remembered my interactions with our NZ distributor. He had a very unusual name that I recall 40 years later. But the thing that I remembered was they would call in occasionally for quick technical answers. I was on another call and he was on hold a few minutes. When I answered he told me to put him back on hold. Here instead of hold music we had a local radio station that played old radio mysteries from the late 1930's on. The program was called The shadow with Lamont Cranston. The guy from NZ was really into it. They were coming for a corporate visit in a few weeks. There was no internet in 1983, so I called my local bookstore and there was a 24 or more episode collection on cassette tapes. I bought the set and gave it as a gift.
