Even the winter up here in the northern hemisphere makes a great time for watching this video about big rigs working in New Zealand during the winter down there. Very nice scenery and trucks! It reminds me of the US states of Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and Oregon.

Nice one, a lot of day cabins in NZ, In Europe you don't see any day cabins all are (90%) sleepers. In EU no USA trucks, no Japanese trucks no double front axles or quad trailers. Nice video!

Winter in the land of the Kiwis. I bet it was freezing cold on that Highway. Wow! It is winter in New Zealand and here in the United States, it is summer. Watching this, it is dangerous to overtake a lorry (semi truck) by moving onto the wrong side of the road. If you do that, you will hit an oncoming motor vehicle head on. Also you will be in the lorry driver's blind spot if you do that. Anyway, this is a nice video of trucks and cars traveling on this Saddle Hill Crossing on a motorway. I bet it was nice to get into a nice warm car after filming trucks and cars traveling through the Saddle Hill Crossing. 45 kph? Is that what that said under that curve sign? 45 mph or 45 kph? I know 70 kph is 45 mph. Anyway, another nice drive route along one of the motorways and highways in the land of the Kiwis (New Zealand). I enjoyed this video. Cheers.

Sorry. Looks like I'm wrong on that. You said that Kiwis in New Zealand don't call semi lorrys. What is a pommy? Well, I don't understand New Zealand because I am an American who lives in the USA. You guys spell your words in British spelling just like the Aussies in Australia, the Canucks in Canada and the Brits in the United Kingdom, right? I listen to ZB Radio on Tunein every sunday to see what is going on in New Zealand. I take that back, I know you guys in New Zealand don't call semis Lorrys. That's is a British thing and not a Kiwi thing. I was typing way too fast. I apologize for my ignorance to every Kiwi in the pacific island nation and I will continue to view/listen to what comes out of New Zealand to get a better understanding of this country. Cheers.

Yes it’s due to weight per axle limits as our roads ain’t as well built as those in places like US. Though they do have benefits such easier steering in tight turns(some people think so) and won’t cause a major crash should one of the front tyres blow.

@ElysiumNZ

This road was expanded due to the main route through the Manawatu gorge being permanently closed due to landslides. This road was never meant for heavy traffic in the first place and was heavily upgraded to allow heavy traffic. Parts are quite steep. This route is temporary until the new highway is built.

@ElysiumNZ
@ElysiumNZ 2 жыл бұрын
Weight limits. Our trucks carry more weight than say trucks in US but our roads ain’t that good due to many reasons so it’s easier to spread the weight out over more axles. Plus I think you pay more if you have too much weight on axels?
