In this video, I disable Aprilia Wheelie Control (AWC) on my 2017 Tuono V4 1100 Factory, and determined I still have a lot to learn in the wheelie department before I'm looking like I know what I'm doing.. 😅 Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun, and definitely had a different feeling than I am used to with AWC 1. If you found this entertaining, please turn the like button blue, subscribe, and enable notifications, so you find out the next time I disable wheelie control. 😉 Thanks for watching!

Hey Chad! When I was learning how to wheelie my Tuono, I actually found just power-wheelieing in 2nd gear at around 6k rpm to be the easiest. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tip! I've gotten comfortable using the clutch on my WR250X, but that thing couldn't get the front wheel off the ground without a clutch pop no matter how hard I tried. 😂 The Tuono won't have any problem with that!

Nice going there Chad - popping those 6-12in power wheelies off roundabouts and crests is very addictive with the AWC off 😇 - I also need to increase my confidence to keep rolling on the power and turn the ATC right down ☺️ seating position makes a heck of a difference too on how quickly the front comes up - but confidence and practice are the key for it to come naturally👍🏻
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It is reeeeally addictive 😅 Seating position does make a huge difference, even on the Aprilia! It's night and day on my WR, but on the Tuono it had more of an impact than I was expecting. Let's keep practicing, and hopefully one day we'll be able to ride out some sick stand-ups like the GP guys 😁

I see we're a kindred wheelie spirit. I'm awful at wheelies. I've been riding since I was 12 and have never got a knack for it. My unconscious, natural instinct is to lean over the tank as soon as the bike starts accelerating. It's a massive effort to not do that when I try to wheelie.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 жыл бұрын
I feel that! Same instinct like you said. My body wants to stay upright rather than feel like it's falling backward. I'm trying to lean back now, though. 🙂

Hey Chad 👍🏻 learning to poppin wheelies is a scary and scetchy process. I’m still no good and i did a wheelie school last year lol. There’s definitely a skill to it for sure i get jealous when i see these dude’s who can just do it at will but good on them 👏🏻. I’m just gonna leave it to the professionals as i always worry about it going wrong and watching my pride and joy sliding down the road 🤦🏼‍♂️. Stay safe brother 👊🏻 Adam 🇬🇧

Hey Adam! Appreciate you sharing your experience with this. That skill is what it’s all about if you want to wheelie, and it takes a lot of practice to develop for sure! Totally respect your decision though, as it is undeniably risky. Ride safe as well, and hope all else is well with you and your family! ✌️

Good content. If anything I'd say start at a lower speed in a parking lot, everyone said the same to me but honestly I was able to hold about 8 or 9 o'clock for about a hundred or so feet. Definitely enjoying your channel!

I think you found some of my other video and see that's usually what I try to do. :) Just wanted to give it a shot on the Aprilia and try to apply what I've learned from the WR. Naturally, being waaaay more powerful, heavier, and handling much differently, I was a bit timid. Appreciate the advice nonetheless! Thank you for watching, and glad you are enjoying. :)

Yup this is me on my Tuono too. Scary AF pulling that much power up thinking of looping it. Although I still haven't done much on my Street Triple either 😅
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 жыл бұрын
Scary indeed! I tried to learn how to wheelie like 7 years ago on my CBR600RR and gave up pretty quickly after feeling like I was going to loop it, chopping the gas, and coming down hard. Didn’t really try again after that until I got my WR250X. I can do first gear wheelies pretty easily and ride them up to the rev limiter, but it hasn’t prepared me well enough for this! 😂

Hello Chad,, Focus on powerups in 2nd, and save your chain from stretching, both my 17 Tuono and 18 RSV4 have no problem carrying a long wheelie, biggest thing find the meat of the torque curve, 5.5K to 6K for the Tuono and 6K to 7K on the RSV4.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice! I got used to using the clutch on my WR250X, so that seemed like it would be easier and more comfortable for me, although unnecessary. Do power wheelies actually save your chain? I would figure if you’re smooth with the clutch (smoother than I was in the video) it wouldn’t make much of a difference.
@johnnylucid
@johnnylucid 2 жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct about the RPM's. I rocked my 21 RSV4 up on my way to work today exactly between 6k and 7k. I can get it to come up between 5 and 6 sometimes but 6 and 7 is the sweet spot.

Yeah, exactly.. 😅🤣 My first Tuono came with it on 3, and I dialed it back to 1 after having it cut in with the front wheel hardly even leaving the ground. Made first gear pretty useless if you were trying to accelerate with some decent speed. I transferred all my aPRC setting over when I got this bike, and just haven’t really felt the need to turn it off. I wanted to spend some time getting comfortable with the feeling of the front coming up on my WR250X first, which I felt like I had, but apparently not comfortable enough. 😂 I figured it was going to be much different than the little supermoto, but it was even more so than I expected!

@@hiimchad yeah you’ve totally done the right thing… wished I could here in the Uk, but I live in london currently and the police are really cracking down so I’ve shelved wheelie progress and doing what you’ve done and getting a sumo because the police are very intolerant here and I was lucky to get away with a 120 mph wheelie on the ape as they had no filming equipment but that shit me up big time and I’m just going to wait until I have some land and can practice there.. I don’t want to lose my licence and possibly go to jail for something like a fucking wheelie.. and the Aprilia doesn’t enjoy being ridden gently. Thing wants to go all the time 😂 but I don’t want to slide it down the road so I’m not going to really push the envelope and try 12 o’clock it as that would be a nightmare seeing it go down the road etc. Power wheelies, long as they may be… will have to do for now until I get a sumo when I move away…

9:45 never do that to your trasmission, using quickshifter on such low rpm will destroy it :) Btw on 2nd you can power wheeli tuono easly without clutch. Bit scary but fun. Get off from throttle while compressing front fork a bit only with your weight and then back to throttle again.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 жыл бұрын
That was shifting at 6-7k rpm, which is perfectly fine for the quickshifter and transmission. It actually says in the owner’s manual that it is fine to use the QS so long as the engine speed is 4k rpm or above. I prefer the clutch, more control for me personally, but the power would definitely make it easy without the clutch. I’ve made some improvement since this video as well. Appreciate your comment! 🙂
