Happy New Year everyone! Hope all is well with everyone as we start off 2021 with good health and well being. I got a new bike! 2016 Harley Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight. Been a sportbike and dual sport rider in my short riding career. After test riding this HD Sportster 48, it just spoke to me and I now understand the pure joy of riding this heritage classic. I hope you enjoy the video and hopefully I can steer you all to consider owning a Harley Davidson bike as part of your stable.
I got my bike at Top Rocker Harley-Davidson in Canoga Park, CA
Make sure to check with Christian, Joe, and Adam if you visit this place.
Truly awesome people at this dealership.

You did it right by taking a course first before buying an expensive motorcycle. You get the hang of it by learning on something lighter and not three times your body weight. Some ‘tubers start their channels by asking if a sporty is a good starter bike. Hogwash I say. If it is a good starter for a Harley, well, of course, but that is a given only if you have some experience on an over 500lb heavyweight. The iron 883 starts at 565 and wet it runs around 575 and then add you to the mix. There is always time to do it safely. You are one of only a few who didn't complain about the tank size. Refreshing.

I have been a sport bike rider for the past 35+ years. This past August I purchased a Yamaha VStar950 cruiser. What a pleasant change in riding genre! Such a relaxing ride. Taking in the sights for a change instead of it being a point-A to point-B blur. Looking forward to planning some road trips in the near future for the VStar. Nowadays it sport bike Saturday and cruiser Sunday! Having a great time!

Hello. How is this bike over bumps and pot holes? How do you deal with the wind pressure since no wind shield? Is this more fun over all than your R3 or XT250? I don’t really do off road..just looking for a fun bike to ride around on that puts a smile on my face. I know how to ride. Why did you choose this over the MT-07? And also what about the gas tank size? Did you try riding the custom version? Thanks in advance for answering my questions. Great looking bike.

Thank you for watching! Overall this bike is more like a heritage bike. It rides like the old fashioned way very rough and you have to counter steer the bike more than leaning it. Yes it's windy as hell on the freeways and highways but during the day it's manageable. At night, it's super windy. But it definitely puts a smile on my face. The rear shocks are adjustable I just found out and you can do the pre-load yourself based on the dots on the shock. The shock ring key is under the seat so you can set it to your weight based on the manual. That really helped with the bumps. It's still there but not as bumpy. This bike is more for like a neighborhood easy Sunday ride or commuter bike. Plus, people always gives compliments since majority of non riders know the Harley brand. Gas tank is small as it only gives you about 80 miles full tank but that's the style of the 48 when it comes to heritage. I didn't get to ride the custom version but I'm planning to do some mods later on this bike. Each of my bikes are fun in their own ways. The R3 to me is probably going to be my track only bike since I go to the tracks more often and I can really ride safer on the track at higher speeds. The XT250 to me is really a dirt bike that just happens to be street legal. I love the XT250 but I just don't do enough dirt so I might end up trading it in for a Supermoto. Overall I think for me the Harley would be my only street bike and my other bikes for track only. The MT-07 is till something I would consider getting or the XSR700 so we'll see if I can get a used one for cheap, I would definitely get an MT-07 for a 1 bike that can do it all for street, track, long distance. But if you're short like me and want a really easy bike to ride around town and you don't need to go fast, definitely look into a Harley Sportster or the Yamaha Bolt. Hope that helps and thank you again for subscribing. Ride safe!

@@play1films Thank you so much for your thorough reply. Btw, I am 6 feet 210 lbs so I don’t know if any of these bikes would be comfortable now that I think about it?

@@dry509 any of the sportsters from Harley would be fine for your size. My buddy is 6’3” 240 and rides a Sportster 48 as well. Definitely test ride at your local Harley they’re pretty cool with you test riding. If you want something with a bigger gas tank and a better engine with 6 gears and liquid cooled I’d suggest the Harley Low Rider. 5 gallon tank and it comes with rear passenger seat and pegs and that Milwaukee 8 engine is so smooth. You can also adjust the rear shock manually. My 48 didn’t. So definitely test ride. If you’re not happy with Harley then I would suggest the MT-07. Sounds really good when you put a slip on exhaust and rides just as comfy like the XT250 but more power. And it looks better than than Kawi z650, Suzuki SV650, and Honda CB650r. You can get them cheap used too and more than enough power for your size.
