Knowing that Sutekh was the God of Death, hearing from Clive "he has one constant companion... Death" is so cool. You might also notice that some of this Doctor's TARDIS console was in the memory TARDIS.

@@francisgilbert6982 In highsight it possibly is. RTD wrote in the Sutekh clinging on the tardis since pyramids of mars, because when he was a fan watching the episode in 1975 he had a theory that Sutekh just clung onto the tardis. So he thought about it for almost 50 years but wrote it in now

As I've seen mentioned before, Christopher Eccleston is a wonderful post-war Doctor. He's capable of portraying such incredible sadness that I've only really come to appreciate on rewatches. Also Rose is a fan favorite for a very good reason. To so many people, she represented the viewer and was someone we could all relate to. A shop girl, a high-school drop out, belonging to a single-parent family. She was great companion.

Eccleston was perfect for the revival series imo, the perfect balance between silliness and seriousness that fans of the original series can appreciate, while also setting the tone of the show for newcomers. His run has bad episodes, sure, but it has some brilliant ones (episodes 6 and 8 come to mind), and his acting is always on point no matter what.

You want to talk about beans on toast. OK, here's how Brits view them… Ah, behold the humble tin of baked beans, a veritable Pandora’s box of comfort and nostalgia! With trembling hands, you seize this metallic chalice, knowing full well the delight it holds within its confines. As you peel back the lid, a heady aroma wafts forth, like memories of childhood picnics and rainy day lunches encapsulated in tomatoey splendor. The saucepan stands ready, a knight awaiting its noble charge. Into this vessel, you pour the beans, a river of amber and ruby flowing forth, promising warmth and sustenance. The hob flickers to life, a dragon breathing its gentle fire, coaxing the beans into a simmering dance. Ah, the sizzle and pop, a symphony of sustenance, each bubble a note in the melody of anticipation. Now, to the bread, that canvas of golden potential! Each slice, a blank page upon which a culinary masterpiece shall be writ. Into the toaster they go, descending into the fiery abyss to emerge reborn, transformed into golden slabs of perfection. Watch closely, for the line between toast and char is as fine as a spider’s silk, shimmering and delicate. The bread springs forth, victorious and golden, the very sun captured in culinary form. With a flourish, you spread a whisper of butter, its creamy luxury melting into the toast’s warm embrace like a lover’s tender kiss. And now, the moment of union, the crescendo of this gastronomic symphony! The beans, now bubbling with fervor, are ladled generously onto the toast, each spoonful an offering to the gods of comfort food. The toast, sturdy and humble, bears its burden with grace, soaking in the savory goodness. A pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and lo, the transformation is complete! But wait, there is more to this tale. Should you desire, a handful of grated cheese may be strewn atop, a snowy mantle that melts and mingles, adding richness to this already decadent feast. Ah, but the journey does not end here. For those who seek adventure, a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a hint of chilli powder may be added to the beans, infusing them with an exotic flair, a touch of the unknown. Thus, you stand back and admire your creation, this simple yet profound dish. Beans on toast, a testament to the beauty of simplicity, a dish that speaks of home and hearth, of love and care. And as you take that first bite, you are transported, lifted upon the wings of flavour to a place where comfort and contentment reign supreme. Bon appétit, dear friend, bon appétit.

They have also said I think that basically regenerating also can alter his brain-chemistry a bit, which would also explain further differences in behavior between Doctors. It's like when someone gets hit in the head or wakes up from a coma and is kind of a different person. He still has all of his memories, but it's kind of like, "Wow, did I used to be like that? Why did I do that? That's so silly! I think I wanna be like this now."

A lot Who fans sleep on Eccleston, but he remains one of my favorite Doctors. He was a great choice for the revival of the series. I've been a fan of Doctor Who since I first saw The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) episodes on American PBS television as a kid. I never looked back. Doctor Who was my first franchise, and is still one of my favorites. BTW, if you have access to American streaming services, most of the Classic Who episodes are currently available for free on Tubi. They're structured very differently from NuWho; every 30-minute episode is a cliffhanger, and each story has four to six parts. Lots of fun.

It would be definitely be fun to see a reaction to “Classic Who”. From 1963-1989 the 1st Doctor- the 7th Doctor. But definitely a “Fantastic” reaction to the start of “New Who”.

How fun to see the beginning of the Modern Era of Who with the POV of Ncuti being your first Doctor. I was a latecomer to Who too, and I can tell you it's a wild ride, but a fun ride.

u have a POV nobody else here in the chat has or will have, your first impressions of DW are brand new and u get to explore the stuff we love with new eyes and also eyes nobody else has access to. if you then begin following classic Who I will be very very very impressed, you are a new type of fan. And I subscribed cos I am so damn intrigued, if you go through my subscribtions you'll see I almost almost NEVER follow reactionists.

"She (Rose) walked so Ruby could run!" LOL!!!! Well, well, well...look who *finally* decided to start from the beginning! Don't take offense by this, but this route is the better way to be a Who reactor. How lucky you are--seeing Nine from the point of view of Fifteen! Now you'll be knowledgeable *and* funny! "I'm gonna have fun with this!" Yes, you are! I'm 56 and I've loved #StarWars, #StarTrek and #DCSuperheroes for my entire life. But my fantasy life has been defined by #Marvel and #DoctorWho. If you stick around and be a patient watcher of what we call #NuWho (2005-2023? :) ) between now and the forthcoming Season 41 (?)/15 (?)/2 starring Ncuti and the new companion, you'll see how The Doctor--a character created in 1963!--was revamped for your generation--post-modern, 21st-century folks. Every Whovian will tell you what Classic Era to watch. For me you can start with Two's "The War Games," which leads to Three, the first Doctor in color. Three, Four Five would do it for me because then you could watch the 10th- and 20th-anniversary episodes! "It brings back memories--but to me, memories of the future!" Now you're getting the lingo! :) THANKS for this and an official welcome to the Whovian world!!!! I'll be here for as long as you do this!!!

I love this season. It’s great! Rose and the Doctor are iconic. I would say that despite the lower budget and worse effects, I think this seasons look is so much more enjoyable. It’s very opinionated. The shots regarding plastic Mickey ranks as top 3 worst visual effects though. 😂 Fun Facts: The Mannequins in this episode are actually a returning antagonist from a Classic Who. The sound effect of the weapon is even the same as before. The poorly edited shot of the Doctor at JFK’s motorcade is a reference to the fact that the first episode of the show from 1963 was delayed a day due to the death of the president. The delay made sure that people could actually see it instead of being glued to the news, a decision that probably saved the show.

It wasn't a delay it went out as planned on 23rd November surrounded by news coverage of the assassination but was repeated a week later right before episode 2 as it didn't get the audience because of JFK - but yes the assassination stuff in Rose is a callback to ep1.

It's so great to watch someone get into a show I've loved so much for so long, and the fact you're doing it after coming in on the newest season is both very timey wimey of you, and also gives me hope that the new season really has brought in new fans which is really exciting. I can't wait to see you go on this journey, I can tell you're going to love it!

Yknow, I've always liked early Who. I came in around when the 11th Doctor's era was still airing. But I never LOVED it. Rewatching it with a new fan like yourself now, who has seen the most recent stuff... idk. It makes me really appreciate and love this early stuff more than I already did. It makes me reflect more deeply on Ncuti's first season. It's really satisfying to see how far the Doctor has come as a character. What's changed and what's the same. The way the Doctor seemed experienced before, but not in the same way as now. It's cool to observe. Makes me glad it's run as long as it has.

watching a story per doctor for the classic series is a good way to get a taste of all of them. though for the first doctor, id recommend doing the first two stories, as they were about equally instrumental in establishing the show.

I have loved watching through you the way Doctor Who grips you and drags you in to it and how you get so into it you even did deep dives! There's so much ahead of you! I'm jealous I wish I could start all over again all fresh and new too. ❤

Rose and Mickey's accents is a Southern Londoner accent. I talk the same the same way., with a hint of Irish with some words. The stereotypical British accent is only one dialect. It's a posh accent. One that rich private school twats have. Although some ppl have an even posher accent than the stereotype. Like the late Queen Liz 2. Or the current King. Like America Britan has many different accents and dialects. There is an Irish KZfaqr I watch who makes a joke that Ireland has so many dialects you'll think you're in a different country from just walking 10 minutes down the road. lol One bad thing about the NuWho era is all the long-term companions are from Modern Day London. Not even from a different part of the country just London. In the classic Era we had companions from the futures. From the past. Aliens - One was even a member of the Doctor's species. Robot dogs. Ect.
