A special post-election episode of #NCFNewspeak as NCF Director Peter Whittle and Amy Gallagher of Stand up to Woke are joined by NCF Fellow Emma Webb and special guest Dr. David Starkey. The panel analyze the election results in their broader context: what can we expect from a supermajority Labour government? What is the future for the right in Britain? Will the Conservatives seize this opportunity to become truly conservative or veer towards the wets? What lies ahead for Reform now that Nigel Farage is finally in Westminster but with only 4 seats for Reform?

@lloydjones7925 The problem isn't the First Past The Post system, it is political parties themselves. Remove political parties, and you have independent MPs - just as the whole system was designed for. The creation of the political party system in the 1860s was a terrible disaster that undermines everything, and destroys the check and balance system. The Commons has far too much power, and the party system is a key element to that.

Wrong. The defunct Faketory party is taking up the space for an actual conservative party. So, step 1: help remove them as a viable government. Step 2: Over the next parliament, replace the Fakes in the public mind as a possible alternative to Loony Leftyism. Step 3: Replace the inevitably disasterous Labour government in 2029. The alternative is complain but keep supporting the very party who have betrayed their voters throughout their years in office.

Good point. The weak spot in any Identity Politics (in democracies) is always their failure to speak to the majority. They only achieve that through authoritarianism and affording themselves special status, or burdening others with imagined privilege. The answer seems to be to look back 30 or 40 years when our democracy was a bit stronger, or at least more representative. Our society was less divided racially, and people weren't anti-trans.

No, they don't care about being elected by a small minority of Brits, but the fact they lie so obviously is hugely concerning. Starmer explicitly claimed that the British people had given him a 'clear mandate' to do what he likes, when that's a flat-out lie, and the public know it - 34% is far from a 'clear mandate' I don't know if Britain has seen a more manipulative, dishonest PM. His MO seems to be to pretend that up is down and down is up, and try to shame and/or punish those who refuse to bow to the lie.

English constitution is made by us to defend against government overreach. They may not make such law. They only make statutes, which are rules for commerce. The men and women have primary sovereignty, don't we? Who created government? Oh yes, us. Who elects them? Oh yes, us. We have God given, inalienable rights, which must not be trespassed against. Every one of those statutes that do that must be nullified.

Could we keep David Starkey to programs where he is the only guest? I like his speeches, but he isn't a good participant in discussions. I suspect neither Amy or Emma would complain. They made their points well and succinctly, particularly Emma. It DS had not been part of the discussion, this - I suspect - would not have been so.
