Very complete and helpful vid. Its amazing how sensitive these small engine carb ports are to corrosion/contaminate plugging. Draining the gas and running them dry for storage saves a headache for sure.

Great video. I just finished cleaning my carb on a 3250 generator. Your video got me through the process with no problems. This is the first time I've taken a carburetor apart. The generator started up with the second or third pull and ran smoothly.

Nice job Jeff: I had the same carburetor in my shop last week that had pinholes in the float bowl. Great Gasoline (not) Also had water in it. I cleaned it and put a new bowl and needle in it and it ran great, like yours did. Thanks for the video's.

One of the better on-line instructional videos I've seen. Nice to hear correct names used for small parts like main jet, emulsion tube, float valve, pilot etc. Couple cautions worth mentioning though. When cleaning/clearing the the tiny orifices that empty into the throat as well as the single on the intake side of the throttle butterfly, you really need to spray cleaner with straw attachment and only spray from the inside out...same with compressed air. Those are the bottleneck of the fuel system. The gunk you so often see is a combination of ethanol residue (through striation) and polymeric residue. The striated ethanol after exposure to air (usually through the ambient pressure port) eventually takes on a crystalline structure and with all those sharp edges to bite into the soft brass, well, flushing with pressure from the wrong direction can be more than counterproductive. Also I'm sure you wet and twisted the Q-tips to avoid "fiber drop" but your viewers don't know that because they didn't see that...just saying. For all it's worth I like tapping my wire strand reamers with a hammer to flatten them and create a sraping edge. I've knit picked you (it's easy to do and I'm good at it...lol) but truth be told this is an excellent presentation and you are to be commended! One last thing...I promise...really...Those are NOT 10mm bolts, studs or nuts...they are 6mm fasteners that require 10mm tools. I know I'm overly critical and for that I apologize.

I ordered a new carb for mine. I got my old carb off and the bowl and float were pretty clean but the jet wouldn't come loose. I pretty much destroyed the jet trying to get it loose. So now I'm glad I ordered the new carb.

Thanks I have a Generac Generator that's not been run since I've ran it years ago , but I ran it till it started spuding - and hit the choke and it should have sucked all the fuel out and burned the gas up . hopefully . If not when I need it all I'll have to do is throw gas in it - if not I'll use this video . Thanks

I really like the video, because I have the same generator, and left it sitting for a year. lol Well ,I followed your instructions and advise and was successful in doing a good reconditioning of the carburetor and fuel system. I love the chickens you have, we call them FRIZZLES here in Florida. They have a personality of their own. lol, I don't know how many or types of Appliances this 3250 will run. But just glad to have it running anyway. I guess I'll have to sit down and figure out how many watts each and every Appliance draws. So far we've powered a refrigerator and a Fan to keep from burning up during a Hurricane. lol Very Glad you're doing videos , you make it so simple to work on engines, YOU"RE A GREAT TEACHER. To Bad , I can't be a neighbor of yours , every day we could drink coffee and work on engines together, we would get some of the best free labor a body could get. lol Take Care.

The engine of this type is actually a subaru 4 stroke engine. I have this similar motor to generator and also mower (ryobi) i found the schematics for these engines. they range from 140cc-190cc and be of many CC's engine type to which model and torque. Unfortunately, the carbs are usually good. but its the tanks where the fuel sits gets seriously dirty and most areas to air get rusted very quickly.

That plastic screw doesn't adjust the idle, it only keeps the pilot jet from coming out. Many of those smaller carbs have no way to adjust the pilot jet beyond replacing it with a different size.

I have an Einhell generator looks very similar to this one in positioning of carby, filter etc. Watched a different video yesterday but they didn't talk about the slow jet 9.35 min into the video! So guess what! when it didn't work I searched again for and found the best helpful video in youtube land! Took everything apart again cleaning the slow jet and found that the orings had perished. cleaned up again assembled and YIPPEE it worked beautifully! THANKS JEFF :) Will this be OK going forward without those orings? Or should I purchase new orings? Regards Paul

Jeff. My brand new Generac 8000 watt starts electrically no problem. Ran It fot 4 hours tested running house via inlet box. Just put 3/4 gallon of gas in. Oil level is good. Problem is it wont PULL START. ANY THOUGHTS?
@dalelange845
@dalelange845 4 жыл бұрын
Not familiar with Generac's system but possibly the key switch for the electric start needs to be in, and remain in, the "on" position...even when using the recoil. How do you shut it off? Is the "on" position shared between both modes? Just a thought.

@@dalelange845 hey, Thanks. Before your reply I had a brainstorm. Lets make sure my switch in in the "ON" position. Yeah that was it. My switch is 3way. Start,on,off. LoL....gotta laugh at myself before beating myself up!!!

Too funny. James, I almost left it alone. I was thinking "he'll figure this out" and then "he's already got it". The only reason I tossed it out there was as a final goal for myself to reach to be able to call it a day, a very long day, and then i could put the phone on the charger and finally get some sleep. Anyway, just taking a step back for a moment away from the frustration seems to work more often than not...maybe it just breaks the pattern of thought that overshadows the simplicity of the solution, if that makes any sense. Lol Good to know you actually already had the answer and just needed a moment to let it find it's way out...funny how the universe works.🤔 I do equipment repair (both ag. & construction) and here's an equally bizarre phenomenon; I can go a year without working on a 545 Ford loader then I'll get hit with 4 of them at the same time with the exact same problem. Wierd...and it happens ALL the time. Anyway I wish you the best and appreciate your update.✌

A small easy out. Spray some lube in the cavity and let it sit overnight. You might also try (really) sharpening a small steel chisel and giving it solid wack or two. Either in the old grooves or make new at 90°. Either way use the widest chisel that will fit in the cavity (max torque). If that doesn't work and you cant catch a thread sometimes gently driving it counterclockwise while at the same time applying more pressure on the opposite radius with a small punch will give the chisel side just enough to start a thread. Then there's always heat...if you go this route make sure there's no left over lube, solvent or gas that will catch fire...and ONLY heat the outside of the pick up tube...you want it to expand while your main jet remains cooler than the tube. If you are successful using any of the above remember to run a tap down the tube, obviously with the emulsion tube removed, and run a die around the main jet before reassembling. If you are able to re-use the main jet be sure to clarify the screw driver notch with either an electric cutoff wheel or even a hacksaw so that the screwdriver you plan to use fits that notch both snug and deep. And next time remember to use a round shanked screwdriver that fits proper...brass is super soft. Good luck and I hope you repost with your results.

where can you buy the pilot jet? I can not find a source> not even generac corp. I did find a carb at amazon.com. but no slow speed jets. my slow speed jet had a broken o-ring...had to buy the whole carb for $25. Found it by carb brand name and wattage GP3250. it was a viable solution, but I did not need the whole carb, I only needed the jet with the o-rings on it.

I'm in the same boat at the moment as I need the size of the orings for the "pilot jet", I'm assuming. I wish the video would have been edited to say that it shouldn't be put in the carb cleaner bath before and not after. Anyone know the size of those orings? Looks like the pilot jet has "45" on the top which may give some idea of size but I can't nail that down via Google searches.

Hey papa that's an unfair question...Jeff was hoping to not have to pull the entire carb...trying to be as fair to his customers as possible as I'm sure they are paying hourly. Just curious, who conviced you that completely disassembling something had a direct correlation to losing parts? Do you always lose parts? Or did the person that mistaught you that illogic have a problem losing parts. Father, brother, boss? Oh well it doesnt really matter but obviously there are some missing parts...somewhere...and you got blamed.
