I am writing this on the day In October 2023, that speaker Johnson was selected. Politically, I completely disagree with speaker Johnson. But, he is indeed a very eloquent man with a good sense of humor. I hope that he will keep to his word and work on both sides of the aisle for the good of the American people.

I sincerely doubt anyone has taken more vacation time than DT. The man spent most of his presidency discussing national secrets with whoever at Mar a Lago and constantly used Airforce One to do it (pretty much every single weekend). Currently, our nation is facing another Republican manufactured shutdown and the world is on fire. A mild sense of urgency should be present in the HOR, but to the Republicans, it doesn’t matter much but to get likes on social media. So, no, I will not shut up. If you don’t like it, you have the right to stop trolling comments as sane Americans vent and rightfully so.

One reason was because it was Trump who ran up an 8 Trillion dollar debt that we are suffering the consequences for now. That was hardly "controlled spending". Republicans didn't try and stop him, but now they are "fiscally responsible". It's all "smoke and mirrors" with them. If Trump had done all the things he promised, about the border, we wouldn't have problems today, but he didn't.

Impressive. An election denier and believer in the criminalization of gay sex. Another great day for American politics. I had no idea that leaving the states in 1992 and starting a new life somewhere else was one of the greatest decisions I've ever made and I will most likely live longer too. BTW my gaydar went off listening to this new speaker. Could be just a false alarm. Nothing to worry about.

In a nation that used to hold the notion of the separation of church and state to be so critical, why do so many politicians continue to link governance to God? I think we all understand what the founding fathers did...all those decades ago, when America was essentially a puritanical country that had just rightfully gained its independence; however, if the country hasn't moved on since those times, then, it really ought to. Speaker Johnson gave an impressive speech, notwithstanding a couple of clangers; and, while it's critical that the American people remain hopeful, judgment might best be left reserved, given his staunchly right-wing, evangelical values, attitudes and beliefs. Let's hope this fellow does the job he professed he intended to do.
