January 30, 1989 Andrea and Neil drove to Los Angeles from San Diego for this taping of The Newlywed Game. In honor of their 25th Wedding Anniversary we make this timeless embarrassing moment available for all of our friends and family to share and laugh at us as we cringe and smile.

According to a website, the 1985-1989 episodes were shot at Sunset-Gower Studios. I wonder if Bob Eubanks ever met Betty White, or were they good friends even outside their sets of The Newlywed Game and Golden Girls?

What was Bob Eubanks thinking when he left this show? To think he chose this guy to host in his place. He actually appeared to announce he was leaving, and to introduce Paul Rodriguez as the new host. Looking at this, I can see why it wasn't renewed beyond 1989.

I actually like Paul better than Bob because Paul never had to try being funny. He just was!! Bob never even came close even when HE tried.

Do you mean to say that Paul Rodriguez guy may have been one of the reasons why the show was cancelled?

@@patrickwilson1459 Well, at the time Bob Eubanks was the man most associated with the show, having first done it in 1966. They probably would have been better off canceling the show in 1988. Sure, Bob was also hosting "Card Sharks", but that wouldn't last too much longer for him.

@@bluebear1985 And the show may have been cancelled in 1989 but then returned in 1996 with some other guy hosting it for one year and then the return of Bob Eubanks.

Debra K I don’t suppose that HE was the reason the show got cancelled after this season until it was picked up in the 90s

Loved the old commercials - Not so much Paul Rodriguez. Rodriguez was trying way too hard to be funny, didn't have the charisma to connect with the contestants and, the new format was a disaster!
