Wow, this was a crazy turn out! I was Davey in this production, and I never would of thought that this would get as many view as it is getting!! Jack was probably my favorite, but overall it was pretty good. Choreography wasn’t the best but that’s only to be expected. What I love about these is you can tell how passionate the cast is. Keep it up, I enjoyed it!

so i started watching this with the opinion that i can’t really see crutchie as a girl, mostly bc i’m used to AKB and also i identify with crutchie strongly but you know what, you guys changed my mind a little your crutchie was an amazing actor, and when she screamed as she was being taken away i almost cried sure, the choreography could have used more work, but you guys were awesome

I was in Newsies at my school and I was gonna watch it on Netflix (again) to picture all my classmates in it, but turns out it was removed the day before. 😢 I'm literally so happy that I found this and I have to say, this is very very good! I love how all the Newsies interact with each other, it really feels as if I'm part of the play. (P.S. I'm only on the bottom line right now)

I wasn't going to watch all of this and figured skipping through to a few key moments would be enough to get the jist. But then I stopped during "World Will Know", and I couldn't stop watching poor GUYS head is SPINNIN . Its hard to do youth theatre well. You did it beautifully. Congratulations

Just finished closing night as Jack Kelly and it’s honestly been such an amazing experience. I gotta say, newsies will be in my top 3 musicals of all time😊

I'm teaching journalism this year, and I want to highlight the importance of the newsboys strike of 1899 by having my students watch Disney's Newsies on Broadway. I happened upon your video as an alternative to my students who may not have access to Disney+, but I think I will just recommend they watch THIS show instead! Brilliant job, TYA! Thanks for putting on a superb show!!

hey, just a small question (i’ve seen you answer others so i thought i’d ask) why did you change crutchie to a girl (using she/her pronouns)? was it a directors choice or was it more of a cast thing?

Great question! It was a casting decision. The material that was sent to us from Broadway mentioned that Crutchie’s gender could be either boy or girl, and as soon as we saw Charlize audition, we knew we wanted her for the role!

Making Crutchie ( even if it’s just a fictional character)a girl ,is actually historically accurate ,because there we’re actually female Newsgirls . I know probably a lot of people don’t realise that there were female Newsgirls since I have only seen one other stage play that had both male and female Newsies .I just started this one ,so I will have to see if this stage play is also coed . Even if there just background characters.

Great performance of a demanding show. And while it's a pity there were only the resources for a single camera capture of the performance, my congratulations for the best, most intelligently managed one-camera video of a show I've ever seen.

@@leikelamichelle Many school and other non-pro companies are unable to stretch to have a full multi-camera coverage; understandable but so often the camera isn't even given a solid mounting and there's no pre-planning. Not only have you done a well-prepared and post-produced effort, somehow you have also gained an excellent coverage of the audio, both stage and orchestra (and if the audio was recorded by a separate sound production team and you had to post-sync that to your video, that's a hell of a lot of work). Whatever, the total result is something to be proud of. If you have any thoughts of heading into this field as a profession, the taklent is there.

Thank you! All of the equipment was supplied by Timothy, the actor who played Davey. He voluntarily lent it to the company for this show. He had an audio recorder that he hooked up to the sound board in the booth, and I managed his camera during the show. Then I was able to acquire all the files and edit them/sync them together. So it was a team effort of a couple of people who enjoy video production as well as theater!

@@leikelamichelle A very competent team effort! To sync and edit separately captured sound and vision and do it so well is a real credit to you. Obviously I'm interested in this side of things although when I was active in amateur theatre I swapped back and forth between two very different areas - musical direction and lighting design (always insisted I operate my lighting). But then moved to production of educational videos for my Uni. (had always had strong interests in film-making and in audio). Now retired I dabble as time allows (always ultra busy as my interests have always been wide-ranging, plus I believe on always aiming high in what you do - as, obviously, do you).

My first time watching Newsies, loved this so much, not immaculate of course but some spectacular voices in there, Jack and Crutchie being my favorite. Great job everyone tho!!!
