The BJP’s candidate from Kurukshetra says he wasn’t treated right in the Congress.
Industrialist Naveen Jindal is contesting as the BJP’s candidate from Haryana’s Kurukshetra, months after his overnight transformation from diehard Congressman to a BJP member.
He is an accused in the alleged coal scam, which not long ago, was described by PM Narendra Modi as a major scandal.
The cases by the CBI and the ED are still ongoing. Is that why the two-time Congress MP from Haryana switched to the BJP days before elections, like other opposition leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari and Himanta Biswa Sarma?
Asked about the opposition’s “washing machine” charge in this conversation with Sreenivasan Jain, Jindal says it’s been “more than 10 years this case has been going on” and asks “why would I wait 10 years”. “The case is with the court…So now the agency or the government can’t do anything about it.”
Asked if the BJP’s decision to allow the entry of leaders like him can be questioned as hypocritical, the politician says that “people can question each thing, each and everything. People can question whatever they want to question”.
On being asked about the Modi government’s role in the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, he says, “The government, after it got all the approval, from the Supreme Court and it built the temple, if the authorities, if they want the prime minister to come and take part in ceremonies, what’s wrong with that?”
“I am absolutely comfortable. I am very happy and I felt very proud. I was there on that day…not only me, the whole country and Indians all over the world, they felt very proud.”
On the average rate of growth during the 10 years of Modi government being lower than the UPA years, he says, “If your base is very low, to rise up, to have a higher rate, is low. But when you are already here, then to go higher, it’s difficult. Why does America have only 1 or 2 percent GDP growth rate?..because they are already developed countries…to go from the 11th economy in the world, now we are the fifth largest economy…you only want to see the negative.”
Asked about unemployment data, he asks “which country doesn’t have unemployment”.

First of all, Thanks much for publishing this full-interview outside the paywall. Good on "Tihari"-victimising Mr Jindal for sitting in, and few humility. Having said that.. He confirmed he's a true BJPian.. ...In his sophistry. He always pleaded Fallacy Fallacy, a great paradox given so much of his wHaTaBoUt offensive against the interviewer Mr Jain.( Mind you, "Tihari" wasn't brought-up once - even remotely.) His gripe about the inheritance-tax is the only 1010% genuine expression.

Naveen Jindal has shown he knows nothing about BJP and its manifesto, he only wanted to join the party in power so it’s easier for him to conduct businesses. However, he has taken up really tough questions and this is something no big leader from the BJP today would even dare to do as it would break their propagandist narrative.

I liked the stickiness and resilience of Srinivasan. True journalist, very appropriate counter questions. As always. Though Srinivasan has been to his Jindal university and delivered some keynote lecture but those were different times.

He is just arguing for no reason. He just joined for his own benifit. Thanks for asking him these hard questions. Him saying, "are there any countries that have 0 unemployment" is so on odds with BJP saying "Vishwaguru". We are the largest population in the world. And if we have 60% of the youth unemployed, forget being China or Japan(in their prime), this demographic dividend will become a demographic liability. When he says percentage point diff in GDP is nothing, he is lying and he knows it. Also when you convert the unemployed youth into sheer numbers, it basically means we have a population that is probably equivalent to mid to large sized countries like USA, multiple Japans, multiple Koreas just don't have any employment.

It takes enormous amounts of patience and intelligence to ensure that you don’t get derailed with your line of questioning if the interviewee tries to deflect & dodge, and then get aggressive. Mr. Jain seems to have had a block of ice on his head - the result is out for everyone to be seen :) Mr. Jindal comes across as ill prepared and ill informed. There was not a straight answer to unemployment or stagnation in growth! The answer can’t be “my industry is doing so well”
