In Lucknow University, we chat with students about issues that are important to them. We are joined in this conversation by Dr Medusa, a popular satirist on Instagram who takes on the task of praising PM Modi.
Big concerns for students are unemployment, paper leaks and the Agniveer issue. We discuss why Modi continues to be popular among women in rural parts of Uttar Pradesh. On the issue of ‘Modi versus Who’, students say they want a representative form of democracy where they choose their MP, rather than a presidential form of election which is all about one man.
We discuss the role of the media in playing up the divide between Hindus and Muslims, and Lucknow’s unique history of harmony between the two religions.

I 100% agree with Sukirti. I'm a woman from UP; I left india 5 years back. the biggest reason was not money or pollution (typical reasons why indian men leave india). But it was safety. my college hostel also had a curfew. and even when i went out before the curfew (broad daylight), i was often eve teased, sometimes molested. Men in india (majority), do not think about this much. but it makes a BIG difference to us women. of course, it makes NO difference to our government.

Unfortunately it is more to do with society rather than Government Even Sukriti can’t guarantee that her own brother won’t be doing the same…even Bollywood which we worship has usually objectified women…. No government can’t place a policeman at every nook, and our courts are non functional… At the same time she was pushing the argument too far. Even in most developed countries it is not safe to roam around at 3am, not even for men…

Feels great to watch these well read and well informed students who have a pulse on what's going around and especially grassroots issues. Thank god for some of our public universities like this which are nurturing such bright minds. After watching Galgotia University students I was seriously worried about what kind of education is being provided.

@@maazkalim I don’t know RWLW . I believe in my abilities. I neither tried nor had a desire for a Govt job. Struggled a couple of years with odd jobs then got a good break and now I m doing pretty well. Govt j responsibility is to ensure there is economic activity so that jobs get created which it is doing well be huge infrastructure spending, promoting manufacturing and startups, , but it seems these youth only want Govt job,

The point being: While there's nothing wrong in desiring a secure-job.. ...They did talk about startups and how public-sector jobs can be as unpredictable as private-sector, but in a worse way. You're grossly oversimplifying this sample of LU students, most of whom are from diverse walks of life and not even from the metropolis they're studying in!

It means the state implementing schemes in sync with central Govt…. As an example a foreign investor wants to setup a factory, it is least likely to do so in Bengal or Punjab because the state governments are not in sync with central Government push on ease of doing business therefore the investment will go to a BJP ruled or non BJP state which is in sync.

Also, on presidential election, i think it is what modi is trying to do, ending the regional politics of big netas like chauhan in MP, and Raje in rajsthan. Well, it's not only about women's safety one is safe in India...I am from Punjab and we men even don't safe, Law and order is just a joke. The education system in India is far behind than world. employment is a big issue, but being in this industry, I feel that most of the students in India are not skilled, and practicality is a big issue. I don't know about UP but in Punjab graduate students in their stream have no practical knowledge. When we graduate in the West, we are ready for a job but in India, you have to get training for another year or so. Our youth is somewhat aware, but not up to the mark. I have a lot to say and hats off to News Laundry for the best content. We expect a lot from any of our governments. In India, education is just about getting marks and a piece of paper. Students should raise questions. everyone can not get a government job. I have instances where students don't even want to start a job, just because the salary is low...in the west, while we study we do odd jobs to earn and learn.

One thing that cant be denied is that BJP did a great job in development of roads all over India and due credit should be given to them for that. Here to be specific credit should be given to Nitin Gadkari if its personal or the BJP party if general but this credit too is given to Modi which is not justified or fair to Nitin gadkari. Unemployment is also an issue which cannot be denied. Here BJP supporters point to inability of govt.to provide govt. job to everyone which is true but point is, the govt.is not providing enough job opportunities to educated youth. BJP supporters point to startups but fact is the startup scheme is a failure because if it was a success it should have generated some employment which is not happening. Further, development and employment goes hand in hand and high unemployment is proof that development is lacking.... Lastly, a learned person like DR. Medusa giving justification for epic failure of paper leaks and unemployment as a proof of secularism and positive way of teaching the youth by Modi is heights of stupidity and clearly proofs that Modi bhakts need not necessarily be fools but even intellectuals too becomes one...

Say that to the potholes you encounter every KM. Our highways are a joke, kisi ko bhi rishwad deke license mil jata hai aur kisiki jaan le leta hai, most people die in road accidents alone in India but yes lets admit it forcefully that they actually did something about the roads. New roads kyu bana na jab already jo highways hai woh buri conditions mein hai?

In fact there are roads still not completed after so many years in my area but all these things can't deny the fact that road infrastructure has been improved to a great extend... For that matter, I would say that, keeping party politics out, whatever government comes to power, an award of acknowledgement should be given to Nitin Gadkari for his service to the nation.

I never understand people mentality that only govt job is source of employment opportunity. Which ever video I have watched from North India, There issue is employment but they want employment only in govt jobs. People should ask did state govt setup any SEZ and bought any new policies to attract industries. Right Now I can see majority of South indian states are putting lot of efforts to bring industry to there state and along with that Maharashtra and Gujarat is putting that effort. apart from that I dont see any other state which has putting huge efforts to bring any big industry. And Many people say Make is India is failure and Start up India is failure. Both the schemes are great initiative and I fill which ever govt comes to power , they should continue working on this instead of scrapping it. India can't become Manufacturing in just 5 or 10 years. It needs at least 20 years. You need to create a ecosystem which would help Manufacturing sector to start there business If there is no ecosystem then no industry would be interested to start there busines. and next is Easy of doing business. Still I feel India lacks a lot on giving approval to start any business. Here I feel state should pitch in and improve there approval process. Bcs is state is responsible at many levels to give approval.

Our graduates look only for govt or blue collar jobs, rather than work with tools. Make in India didn't succeed coz of lack of planning. We can't be a manufacturing giant overnight, we need trainers and more trained personnel and more up-to-date courses in our education system. We need more collaboration between the universities and the industry so that Universities churn out graduates who are well trained to meet the requirements of the industry. Skillset development for job seekers is another necessity. Most internet and e commerce based start up fail coz we often overestimate our market, which often leads to job loss. The state govt should set up more SEZ's and the centre govt should invite more foreign firms to invest in India to generate more job opportunities. We have seen a few foreign firms close shop rather than expand. The govt needs to maintain employment data as well. No data means no issue doesn't work. We need to tackle the issue rather than hide it. We have to make it easier for the Small and medium businesses to obtain financing for expansion to generate more employment. The road network has improved which means that our products will find it easier and faster to reach our customers.
