Come tour a 2021 Winnebago Vista 27P (sister to the Sunstar 27P) with an expert! Join us as we discover what makes a Class A RV different with Duane Cyrus, Director of Winnebago RV Motorized Training Department.
The Winnebago Vista & Winnebago Sunstar are made on the same assembly line and beyond branding, there are only slight differences. The Winnebago Vista 27P is powered by a 7.3 PFI V8 engine on a 2020 Ford F53 chassis and has a total length of 28.5 feet.

As always - Really well done review you guys. Checked all of the boxes on "why" Class A vs C - The Vista seems priced right and has great features. I do love that Winnie does VOC - That's important for sure

CONGRATULATIONS on hitting 20,000-plus subscribers! That should have happened a long time ago! You guys put up some of the BEST videos on KZfaq…excellent content, well-filled and edited…congrats again! Great motorhome, but for us, nothing beats our “Lucy” Navion 16M! Safe travels!

Very tempting! Even though we love our Navion, there are always trade-offs. Now, if they could fit a washer/dryer into one of these shorter floorplans? Look out! 😂 -Howard

Thank you for an excellent and very detailed video on the Winnebago Vista. My wife and I have a 2021 Winnebago Micro Minnie (which we love) and we are looking to possibly upgrade to either a Class C or A in 2023ish range to go full-time RVing due to my wife's disability. This video has really helped since we were unable to make it to the Hershey RV show 2021 and Tampa RV show 2022. We have been looking at floor plans and photos from General RV here in Ohio and your video really helped. I really liked Duane's suggestion on keeping it simple when moving up in size with RVs. We will make a point to check out more of your videos. Again, thank you.

This would be a great choice for you guys. Ordering a 2022 Newmar Bay Star 3401 in a few months myself. You might want to look and see if they have the Bay Star Sport in a short version like this. The new F-53 beefed up chassis from Ford and the V-8 are sweet. No problem towing 5000lbs (and you need a 4 wheel down toad. they is where you can get one of those Chevy Sparks that get 40 mills per gallon and are light)). Can't wait to see you guys in a Class A coach!

We're always keeping our eyes open! Would love to hear what you think of the Bay Star once you take delivery. For us, it's always that balancing act we consider of size, amenity and maneuverability for the areas we like to explore. There is definitely not one right answer, and it feels like a personal choice for each owner! 👍 -Howard

I'm impressed. Here in the Netherlands we rarely see something so large on our roads. Highways would be fine but maneuvering around town or B roads would be a challenge to say the least. I'd choose an outside BBQ instead of the third tv. Liked the RV- just wondering, more storage space also means more space to 'park' stuff instead of downsizing. Great technology and comfort on wheels that's for sure. 👍 🙏 🌷 💖 🙋‍♀️

Great points. It's almost always a tradeoff between amenities, size, and maneuverability. We'd probably use the kitchen more often, too. I've definitely found FB groups dedicated to imported US RVs in Europe. Wonder how setup campgrounds over there really are to longer and larger RVs? This is one of the most overlooked floorplans in the Class A category that Winnebago has. The larger floorplans are promoted more heavily, but do not contain nearly as much OCCC cargo capacity. This short floorplan is so much more nimble to park an manuver and contains enough cargo storage and tank capacity to make it another great choice for visiting National Parks and Monuments. Clothing storage is more limited by nature, but those of us coming from the travel trailer world have already dealt with such limited storage for extended and full-time travel. Such endevours have proven how little clothing we actually need for when you have to switch around seasonal clothing or extra clothing in tote storage. I found I was actually using about 1/3 of what I so craftily brought with me. One doesn't need 3x supply of swearshirts and hooded sweaters even in cooler mountain climates while camp hosting not to mention shoes and other clothing. Of course having more clothing storage is desired, but it is not a coincidence that many of the class A chassis setups are OCCC cargo capacity challenged. With nearly 2900 pounds of cargo capacity the 27P chassis is not overloaded for sure. Finding a WGO in stock can be challenging though with Ford being limited on shipping the various chassis varieties. We are coming to Industry day at the Tampa RV Supershow in January to get a close up view of many of these coaches. ;-)

I agree and what i think they need from experience is to put some solar panels on the roof and use split AC units in the basement with the soft start. Residential fridge and then an inverter with a couple extra batteries either 4, 6 or 8 lead deep cycle or 4, 6 8 lithium. You don't have to worry about power if you spend the night at a friends, Walmart, rest area, road side etc. Maybe start running the solar at 24 or 48 volt and use a converter power supply off the inverter for the 12 volt systems. I know it is backward from traditional thought but the electronics are getting better and cheaper.

I have a 2017 Winnebago Vista LX which is a 35 foot class A RV. I have been thinking that it might be a little too big even though I do love the amenities it has. Anyway, I’ve been thinking of downsizing so I might give this a look.

It's always a tradeoff, right? We're in a 25ft Navion and would love some of the amenities in a larger RV (washer dryer anyone??). I think at the end of the day for us it's about how you travel, where you plan to stay, and how long you'll be there. Thanks for watching! -Howard

Really curious about the fold up bed - what does it look like in travel?

Julie, we don't have a picture, but as you saw the bottom of the mattress flips up for travel so the remainder comes up close to the wall on the left. You would need to bring the slide out in order to flip the mattress back down, but remember there are several other sleeping options if you were ever in a situation where you wanted to rest without putting out the slide (like a quick nap at a rest area, etc). @@NewstateNomads While you two have the freedom of just being the two of you (i.e., no additional sleeping space needed for kids), I would still never personally buy a class A where the master bed has to be folded for travel. It is just too nice to be able to pull over and sleep relatively normally without having to put the slides out (truck stops, rest areas in some states, Cracker Barrels, uneven ground where you probably don't want to put the slides out, etc.). That said, if you want a class A this short, you are frequently looking at the rear corner bath layout and that will pretty much always mean a master bed that folds up with the slide in. Going to a mid-bath or a rear bath will also mean a motorhome that is several feet longer. Question for you two: Would you have been more concerned taking a class A like this one on your Alaska trip than your Navion knowing what you know now or does that still seem perfectly doable in a larger rig like this?

Why does Winnebago install generators below the bedroom…It’ll be tough sleeping at night in the south during summer.

Believe it or not, in the 3 years we have been full-time RVers, we have NEVER run the generator at night. We have stayed in plenty of hot locations, too. We generally just open the windows and run the fans to keep a nice cross breeze going! -Howard

Impressive. VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT. But IMO, it needs a diesel. A gas motor simply doesn’t have the power to push something this heavy. Going from a Class B to a Class A is like going from a TT to a Fifth wheel. Pros and cons for every RV. THANKS. This was fascinating.

Thanks, Terry and great points! Winnebago does of course offer diesel-powered Class As, but not in these shorter floorplans. As you say, pros and cons for every RV, and this Vista floorplan is 8,000lbs LIGHTER than the shortest diesel Class A in the Winnebago lineup (Forza 34T). Less weight definitely helps the gas engine.
