If im not wrong, shiny Gyarados is based off a magicarp being forced to evolve early by team rocket and resulting in a red look. Great shiny though.

My first Pokémon game was Pearl. I remember seeing the newscast at the beginning saying “the hunt for the red gyarados” and looking for it for hours. I didn’t know what shiny Pokémon were, I’d never seen or heard of them so I ended my search thinking it was just an urban legend 😔

So, my first shiny happened when I was playing the Sinnoh games and saw a Pokémon I had never seen before. I saw a little yellow horse with a blue fire mane followed by a sparkle. I had no idea what a shiny was and I had also never seen normal Ponyta so I couldn't have known that it was a shiny unless I was a smarter kid and realized the sparkle meant something. I didn't catch it because 1) I picked Chimchar, and 2) I thought it was just a basic route to grind for the gym. It was my first time on the route and had no idea that I was faced with a very VERY rare occurance. When I came across another one later I was confused as to why they were no longer blue... yeah, in hindsight I always kick myself for that mistake. However, I felt as though the freebie shiny Ponyta in Legends Arceus was to give me a second chance at getting my beautiful fire pony.

It's OK I KO'ed my first shiny (makuhita) Trying to get him in the red. As an adult it hurts knowing i only had to get him yellow-barred for the best catch rate, and that I had plenty of time to chuck balls with no risk.

Shiny marshadow is illegal or in other words never released so you got it from a person who hacked it in or spawned it with a code and silvally you could get as a mystery gift I believe (the marshadow and shiny silvally could be from this one mystery gift event in sm or usum) that means the marshadow you have is normal and the only way to tell if its shiny is if it's in zenith form where regular typical green, aqua mix and shiny purple

Beating the Black Tower and White Treehollow is EXTREMELY hard tho. He runs a Latios Garchomp and Volcarona in Black 2 and it is DIFFICULT. Then you think about how you still have to get there and defeat numerous other hard trainers. Those shiny Pokémon are not free by any means

And if you’re playing White 2 like me, he has Latias and Dragonite instead. Volcorona stays though, he is still Alder’s grandson after all. I’ve only done White Treehollow so I don’t know if I unlock Black Tower it’ll be harder, but it wasn’t that bad for me. I mean, I nearly lost in Areas 9 and 10, but I did pretty good.

I found a shiny Oddish as a kid in Emerald. But some classmate convinced me that it loses its shiny proportions if you evolve, so it just sat there in my PokeDex. I still think it's really cool that I caught a naturally shiny Pokemon by just playing the game, not a free hack or smthing

the only guaranteed ones from go are: eevee (lv 40 challenge), mew (masterwork research), celebi (movie tie-in, presumably masterwork research → i wasnt around during this time), jirachi (masterwork research). im p sure everything else is up to luck (best would be eligible legendaries at 1/20 or community day shinies at 1/25)

Shining Gyrados was the OG shiny card, iirc. Still have it. Holo Shining (Red) Gyrados popping up out of the water while a dude is fishing in a storm, I think.

I've never encountered a shiny pokemon outside of guaranteed shinies.

There’s also a shiny Gyarados in FireRed and LeafGreen where their shiny turned orange for some reason which is pretty awesome

The red guts does from gen 2 inspired me to catch an alpha magikarp in legends arceus, truly a awesome shiny

I've only ever found 5 shiny pokemon. My first was a Tentacruel in Legends nearby Manaphy's cave, and I found a shiny Luvdisc in the same spot. My third and 4th were in Pokemon GO, a Dratini and a Slowbro, and my last shiny I caught a while ago, where I got a shiny Golduck.
