Bravo professor. Clear and excellent explanation. This is one of those moments where you find yourself in a high-level math class reviewing the basics and getting a totally fresh perspective from a superior educator. Thanks Mr. Woo.

Absolutely best video on newton's method. The only single one that goes over how that formula was derived. Everyone else just took it for granted and said just use it.

You can do that nicely with a calculator. Enter 2 = and then enter Ans-(Ans^2-3)/(2*Ans) and press = a few times. 1.75, 1.732142857, 1.73205081. 1.732050808 and then it stays the same

First many thanks But I think that it was the formula should be equal to x+ (fx/f'x)???? Could you please clarify why it x-( fx/f'x) With my respect
@kp27186 жыл бұрын
You guys know where the 1/16 and 1/2 at 11:25 is coming from? I can't the see the function at the beginning.
why would tan be the f'(x) that point that they were talking about at the top of the triangle
@arielfuxman88684 жыл бұрын
perhaps a stupid question, but what happens is accidentaly the tangent happens to have a slope of 0? How do algorithm's deal with that?
@sahdevsingh8858 Жыл бұрын
You mean the tangent is parallel to x axis, i.e. the curve itself is parallel to the x axis which mean its not any parabolic curve, a straight lin only which is either not cutting the x axis(parallel to x axis) or coinciding with the x axis, hence the solution of that equation or curve would be constant and w.r.t. y axis i.e. somewhat like y=7 or y=0(x-axis) or any other constant.
Hi I accidentally discovered a formula for finding matrix calculus and I named it the khalam Newton method the method takes the derivative of determinant and it converges very fast I thought it's an discovery if you are intrested we can talk about that
