Next's movement is simply amazing!. I just watched the race for a third time. The conformation of his shoulder (laid way back at an angle) allows exceptionally free movement of those motorized front legs as they swing high to gobble up the ground. If you look at the other horses in the stretch run, you can see the big difference in the angle of their shoulders compared to Next's. Too bad he's gelded. It would've been great to pass on that gorgeous shoulder to progeny.
