For now I’m sticking with nextjs until I finish all projects I’m building with it. It’s solid and has multiple rendering / generation options out of the box. When I’m done with everything I’ll probably give remix a try on any newer one tho 👊🏾

Today I personally felt the pain of cloudfront distributions, invalidations (did first time practically😆), I quite liked Next js with TS but waiting to test remix too 🤩

If we return more than 150KB data from getServerSideProps in Next js, it throws a warning because the user will have to download all this data and parse it before the page can be rendered, and therefore recommends to use client side data fetching. If Remix renders everything on the server, does it not suffer from the same problem of sending the user a large amount of data that has to downloaded and parsed before the page is rendered?

I have a question Mehul, I’m a new dev, if I can rightfully say that. Went through two different boot camps and am just practicing making projects on my own until I feel comfortable enough to really start applying for jobs. In your opinion, however, would you suggest I learn Next due to the support and current information it already has available or do you think it’s work jumping into remix on the chance that it does rapidly grow and get some level of demand in the industry. I’ve tried both and I honestly prefer remix. I’m not experienced enough to best articulate why that is but I was just able to pick it up a bit quicker. If that’s worth anything. I think you should still have Nextjs as your main skills apart from react And keep trying Remix on side projects as the job market is much higher for Nextjs

I feel that your own research can best answer this question for you. Look for job opportunities based on where you're located, for both Next and Remix. Any decent opening will mention their tech stack. If you see enough opportunities for Remix then focus on honing your Remix skills, else start learning about Next/ other relevant tech. Hope this helped

If you want to learn HTTP and how the web actually works, without all the workarounds, choose remix. I’d go far as to say that the contrary is true regarding the job market - choose the DX you prefer and you will be more interested in seeing what’s behind the curtain. As a result you will become a better dev with far less “effort” - wages are just a matter of competency in your own conviction, especially where anything can be googled. TLDR choose a conviction out of genuine enjoyment, not nextjs or remix. (But choose Remix;)

Oh man I love NextJS so much. Now I’m curious about Remix. One thing I didn’t like about Next js is being locked to vercel hosting. Can you host remix on any server? I’m going to check out the blog post

Remix have just 5-6 supported hosting providers. Even less than next.js

I'm really struggling to get data into components embedded in pages. I know NextJS 13 supports this, but version 13 can't set cookies!! So, I think I will look into Remix

imo remix makes more sense on apps with lots of dynamic and nested content and the experience of form handling in remix is god send. it handles the network-side as well, e.g. retry, fetch abort controller. and the fact that it works even w/o javascript.

It makes sense for any type of app. If you have a lot of static content, just slap a cache on it and it behaves exactly like a SSG app.

@@Glinkis Yes For apps with a mixed needs for ssr. The only problem I see is that remix will be an overhead for websites where it doesn't need a server, just a cms and a regenerator of the pages.

@@romanmunar all web apps need a server of some kind, so might as well use a server that serves your content directly without needing to rebuild anything.

@@Glinkis Yeah you'll eventually need a way to show fresh data. But company, and personal sites where most of the data are static/selmdomly updated. Then it's more performant to just serve html. That's the use case for ssg btw.

@@Glinkis cache means memory. Memory means $$. So remix would be more expensive given that there would be more load on your server. Having purely static html would always be cheaper then.

Well, Remix is based in web API's, so a lot of the problems you may have you can search the documentation in MDN, not in Remix.

Sir 900 hours is enough to learn html, css, bootstrap, javascript, reactjs, node js, express js, mongodb and practice and build multiple projects and land a Mern stack developer job . Sir this possible or not. Please reply me sir. self learning sir

If you never coded in your life, the answer is no. To learn all this technologies it takes a long time, but you have to start and stick with it until you get the mindset of a developer, after that it start to get "easier".

Remix is faster that Next JS, I realised that instantly when I started my first remix project. But still not planning to move to remix.

@@rwlc No lying, when I open the freshly started remix project in browser vs next project in browser (both in development mode) I feel remix is quite faster than remix

@@osadavc it's because remix use esbuild, vite also uses esbuild that's why they are fast

@@enochbeloved7757 vercel uses swr which is written in rust. So compilation time is really no argument here
