My son showed me this song 4 years ago when I was 15 years deep and at the bottom of an opiate addiction. This song broke me I felt all of my kids pain in Nates voice and eyes. It was the push that finally got me to seek treatment. I've been clean for 4 years Nf couldn't save his mom's life but he did save mine. And I will be forever greatful. Nate is a prophet I truly believe that. This song makes me cry every single time 🥺💔

I never really seen my mom growing up she was disabled and she stayed in her room most of the time. Then when I was 12 a month and a few days from 13 she died from a overdose they found a large amount In her stomach. Now I'm in my 30's and disabled had a suburban fall on me.

In their last conversation (scene on the couch) she was saying that the way she was on drugs wasn't HER, it wasn't about the music not being HIM. She was telling him that the drugs weren't her, yet she died of an overdose several weeks later. Very good reaction - thank you for being open and honest enough to share it. It's a very difficult song to respond to emotionally because it is so strong.

We lost our mother when I was 9, my brother 5. Her and my dad had fallen into drugs and when my dad went to prison, mama disappeared. We never found her body or any information, and because of the life they lived, we feel the police never did the job they would've otherwise. It's very difficult. As a matter of fact, this song is one that hits so close to home for us, its very difficult for me to even listen to. Replace pills with heroin and you have our life story. It sucks. A lot. Prayers for you, Asia. I know what you feel. XoXo

I also find it difficult to listen to. But for some reason I always find myself listening to it with tears and my positive mood nowhere to be found. It hits close to home for me as well, not nearly to the extent that it does for you though. I'm sorry you had to grow up like that and live life with those memories and always wondering about things. Much love and prayers for you!

The part when they sat on the couch and he brought his music what he was saying is that she was saying the drugs is not her but a few days later she was back at it. When he was crying and speaking at the end he threw everyone out of the studio when they were recording the song and did that part on his own talking to his Mom.

Your mini ‘rant’ about 4:30 about understanding this song in the perception of a child... i thank and appreciate you so much for that. Ive heard many people, EVEN THOUGH LATER HE LITERALLY SAYS “i was just a kid who couldnt understand it”, ive heard ex addicts or some others totally just stick up for the mom during NATES painful recollection trying to course correct how addiction is a disease etc. And its so frustrating bc... YES WE KNOW THIS. THIS IS NATES MEMORY GROWING UP. How you going to try to challenge his feelings he was literally raised with? I really appreciate when people take a moment to acknowledge how traumatic situations like this is for a motherless child due to something as confusing as drugs.. and tbh, disease or not, a real mother would regardless find a way to fight every demon for her children. 3 of them, here.. 🖤🖤🗝 #nffamily

You had anxiety or anxt about this song. The difference between stress and anxiety is anxiety has a fear of an emotion attached to it. You fear that you will feel some type of way and may be overwhelmed by it or cannot deal in that moment. Stress does not have those implications on such an intense level. Thanks for allowing yourself to be vulnerable on camera. That's brave.

At the end of this he had to send everyone out and finish this alone he was so emotional, he has stated in an interview how he has learned and grown through this and in a different place now than then. In mansion the beatings he talked about were from his moms boyfriend Johnny I believe was his name. This is probably one of the most emotional songs you will ever hear not only because of the lyrics but because you can feel the pain and anger he experienced.
