Absolutely. They lose so much money because a lot of people won't/can't pay the subscriptions for 20 different services just to watch one team play, so those people end up streaming the games for free and the NFL gets $0.

I would love this option. If they can figure out how to include local commercials for whatever game you choose, I'm sure technology is there to do that. That way local businesses and local FOX and CBS stations don't lose customers.

So when that contractual agreement is up, you think the freedom of the team/organization/business doesn't matter because how the original agreement (tax money) was fulfilled throughout the original contract? How is the freedom of a business, not freedom simply because of tax money? The City is free to deny or accept. Easy concept to understand. 👍

The NFL owners build their stadiums using tax payer dollars and turns around and makes going to games unaffordable for the same tax payers in those cities. $75-100 just to park, crazy marked up ticket prices for games, $18 dollar dogs, and if the city gets to host a super bowl its turned into a game only the rich can attend. On top of that the real fans that support a team all season can't even get a ticket to go see their team in the super bowl they have access to very limited tickets the rest are priced so high and allocated to A listers like celebrities who don't even support those teams.

KZfaq pays the NFL $1bill yr for the Ticket. DirectTV pays them an undisclosed amount each year so show the Ticket in bars, restaurants and other businesses. As long as this $ keeps coming in they won't change shit.

Between the NFL making us pay to stream games, Amazon, Peacock, etc and now we find they were price fixing for years and to top it off, every greedy owner wants the cities/taxpayer to pay for their stadiums...I'm losing interest in the whole damn sport, honestly. Never thought I would say that. Been a lifelong fanatic for my team and season ticket holder. But now it's like F the NFL and the owners. They've crossed the line by a mile.

There have been many reasons I've lost interest in the NFL, but the best reason I've heard is from my dad. He gave up after it became clear that no matter how violent the act against a wife or girlfriend, a talented player will always be free to keep earning his millions. Thanks Dad. I miss you.

Unfortunately it will be the consumers that pay the fine. The NFL will go to pay per view on out of market games. Will probably start at $10 per game. So a starting price of $170 for the season just to watch your team once a week. And over a short amount of time it will be raised to $20 per game. So $20 per game over 17 weeks = $340 a season just to watch your team. Unfortunately if anyone thinks this will make things cheaper for the consumer, then you don’t understand how companies work.

I have lived in the US and Canada, and it's ridiculous how much simpler and cheaper it is to get NFL Sunday Ticket in Canada. I remember the times in the US where I had to get a satellite dish and DirecTV, just as a prerequisite to pay for Sunday Ticket.

For context, NFL Sunday Ticket is exclusively sold thru DAZN at $25 CAD monthly, or $200 CAD annually. Works out to be ~$18.50 monthly or $150 annual USD. I sign up for 6 months and get ALL NFL games with no need for Peacock or Prime (have to see about Netflix this year). How much does it cost in USA? $350 USD?

That KZfaq tv/Sunday ticket/redzone bundle is garbage. The first season they partnered with KZfaq it was $500 plus whatever redzone cost at the time on top of having to pay like $73-75 a month for the like 8 months. In total, watching football cost well over $1k. That’s insane!! I went back to illegal streams after that season. Never paying for that ever again for football

Living in the Bay Area, I ended up being a Steelers fan. I wasn't lock in to being a fan of the Raiders or the 49ers. Would have been easier and cost less to watch games but I'm a Steeler fan and I paid for the Sunday Ticket. With technology now, local businesses can still put their commercials for any out of market games and not suffer losses to not having local games being watched.

Sunday Ticket subscriber since 2005 (to watch Vikings in Ohio). If my experience with recent class action lawsuits is any indication (STarkist Tuna - I received a voucher for about $4/worth of free tuna; and Taxact - I expect to collect about $18), we're probably looking at a check of about $10-15 and a 10% discount on this year's Sunday Ticket

As a fellow lawyer, thanks for following this matter and not letting it drop off the radar. A settlement is definitely possible, perhaps even likely, after the appeal is filed. What you didn’t mention was whether the plaintiffs had sought injunctive relief in addition to damages. If it’s just a money judgment, interest will accrue in the post-judgment phase on the whole 12.3 billion, which will be an incentive to settle but in the absence of an injunctive order requiring the NFL to change things NOW, that process will itself likely take a long time. It would be great if you could comment on the possibility of injunctive relief in the final judgment … thanks!

What drove me crazy all those years with direct tv is they wouldn’t connect any place I lived in for 10 years so I couldn’t get Sunday ticket even though I was willing to pay the insane price tag. Eventually my brother got it and I was able to pay him 5 dollars every time I wanted to use the app to watch my team which wound up being about $40 a year, problem was I could only watch it on the smallest screen I owned (phone).

Judges rarely overrule a jury. They'll require the NFL to appeal to a higher court. The judge isn't getting involved in this mess

The NFL should contract the 1080/720p broadcasts with the traditional networks and contract the 4K+ and enhanced broadcasts for paid streaming packages including individual game, individual team, and the everything Sunday Ticket options available. If they offer options the fans will pay for what they desire.

I presume something prevents gouging fox and cbs for more money and just allow each network to stream their conference package of teams games through their network seems like an obvious solution to me

Bingo, the only way to "stick it" to any business, is run them out of business, anything less, you "stick it" to the consumer. People are way to emotionally invested in this crap. It's sports, entertainment, why cares? People worry more about this crap than they do our government being in the toilet.

Technically, the Supreme Court has ruled that "gifts" are legal to give to judges so the NFL needs to get a hold of the judge of record in this case and gift him enough to make a favorable judgement - maybe include an NFL subscription so he or she can see all of the telecast games. A win win situation, I'd think! A nice touch would be to include enclosed box seating for Judge Thomas at the stadium of his choice. 😁

I believe it was "gratuities" so the court would have to say they were acting normally and if a gift for doing their job happened to come their way then that's just a pat on the back for doing a good job 😂

The Supremes are already in the pocket of oligarchs just like the oligarchs who own NFL teams. All the NFL has to do is appeal it to the SC and wait for the verdict in their favor. An all expense paid trip to the next Super Bowl for all the Federalist Society lawyers on the SC is a de minimus payoff post verdict by the NFL and perfectly legal now!

Isn’t the sale of broadcasting rights exempt from monopoly ban due to the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961?Of course, the plaintiff claims that this is limited to terrestrial broadcasting only.

What NFL should do is get rid of the black out rule dictated by supposed local area team. I'm stuck with either Denver or Seattle for my teams when playing on my local Fox or CBS.
