Jalen Phillips didn’t choose to leave football. UCLA has a rule that forces players off the team if they get 3 concussions. He had no choice until Miami came and got him eventually

Which is EXACTLY why I wouldn't Draft him before the 6th Round. But some other team will take him and the problem is, once you have more than one concussion, you are much more likely to have another. And I worry about this kid's mental health later in life. I hope it all works out for him. (Now watch, he'll play for 10 years and be an All-Pro).

It depends. There are some 4-3 ends, usually power end/strong-side ends, who aren't truly "edge" players and who wouldn't fit as a rush 'backer in the 3-4. Mostly the lean pass rushing types have some flexibility between 4-3 rush end and 3-4 OLB, or "edge" roles. There are exceptions, sure, and I'd argue that someone like Bradley Chubb is an edge player in a 4-3 who is entirely miscast as a 3-4 OLB. But these guys have to generalize to a large degree, and most edge players can be a primary pass rusher out of either 3-4 or 4-3, 2-or-3-point stance. Ten years ago I'd argue that you'd really want more heft on an edge in a 4-3 than a 3-4 because they get less protection from the interior line in a base alignment, but in today's game you can play 4-3 DE at 245.

Ronnie Perkins is better than Simms thinks. He is too small to play 4-3 end, but that's not a problem for 3-4 teams. He is also one of the only edge rushers to give Tevin Jenkins a problem, who will probably be a late first round early 2nd round offensive tackle.

This DE class, much like last season, is weak. Paye is a boom or bust prospect, but he won't immediately just be amazing right out of the gates, Oweh is very raw, so you can't expect much, and I don't trust Jalen Philips to produce at the next level. Tryon is very interesting, but he has to be a 3-4 OLB. He can't play on the line in a 4-3 consistently without getting beat up in the run game. I don't think there is a single one of them that truly shines next season.

I know you like that word. So why didn’t you ever mention the without a doubt the most explosive guy in the country. He is just referring to who has slightly better accuracy and ability to get the ball out with no room. Simms picked Wilson because of his accuracy on the run and in the pocket with all angles. @@macarthurclutch2666 man I’m not even a jags fan, but the last time the Jets won a super bowl my grandparents didn’t even have kids yet. Flexing about a super bowl from 50 years ago doesn’t mean much to anyone except you Jets fans. Jags only been around for like 30 years and they’re about to land a better quarterback than any quarterback the Jets have had in their entire history.

What accuracy issues is he talking about with Fields..Im a Wolverine fan but a blind man can see that Fields is friggin unreal.. To compare Mac Jones ,who is surrounded by 1st round NFL talent and struggles to throw the ball further than 45 yds , to Fields is bordering on comical...

Dude Fields mechanics are trash and it shows because his only real accurate throws are the deep ones you talk about. Mechanics work them selves out when you have to throw it 50. Arm is a limp noodle and has no awareness of his feet. It’s why at his pro day he worked vigorously to show that he was better in both areas. But both of those mechanical flaws are seriously hard to overcome at an NFL level, but not to say it’s impossible. If you go back to the Clemson game he missed a few short throws that a highschool QB should have made

To quote Simms, Mac Jones is “a machine throwing the football.” I think most people would perceive Fields as being more raw, though he’s an excellent prospect as well. It’s entirely subjective, so to call another take “comical” is what’s actually comical.

I was with you till you started on mac Jones. 1-Ohio state has comparable talent so can everyone stop with that bs of alabama getting all the 5 stars 2- mac can sling it, end of story 3- you're right though fields if the mechanics become a little quicker and more consistent could be dangerous

Sorry but the film shows Fields does not see the blitz and doesn't know how to read the defenses. A lot of times he is stuck on the first read (if you are being honest, you admit it) or the defenses had a free rusher and Fields didn't see the guy(s) coming most times until they were right there. The NFL has a way of making you do the things you cannot do until you can do it or you bust. See multiple QBs in the past like Rosen, Geno Smith, Vince Young, Deshone Kizer, Trubisky and many others who had weaknesses amplified.

Lance and Fields are going to bust horribly. Neither one are nearly ready, both are gonna get drafted earlier than they should, gonna start earlier than they should, gonna struggle, and Probably gonna get hurt because of their reliance on running.

Bro you obviously love Justin Fields and also hate watching game film 😂 Wilson on Ohio state with those matchups... you wouldn’t even believe how good that offense could be. Dude’s mechanics are flawless and seriously impressive athleticism when sliding to throw. Fields was behind Ohio states O-line (consistently more talented than the line across from them) and still couldn’t read pressure. Looks for the first man and then just splits out of there clowning on Big 10 defenders with his legs

That's also 8 guys in coverage, so what does that say about what C.C. thought of him?

Beating 8 in coverage is harder than beating the blitz. Northwestern dropped 8 in coverage against Fields which is why he had a bad game. These guys are still learning the position.
