I mean.... There seems to me a genuine sex work aspect with real models being involved too. Despite what Kurtis said.... They probably are getting private chats with that one girl. Paid, private sexting is both common and legal. It's like the restaurant where people are taking a service that already exists and throwing nfts in for no reason.

What offends me the most with NFTs is that people are willing to pay more for a drawing that is randomly generated from an AI and isn’t even unique (same pose, reused assets, unpleasant aesthetic) but will get angry when an artist asks for 20$ to make a fully custom art piece that is unique to them and made by an actual person who knows how to put elements together in a pleasing way.

We know they're not- they do rehearsals and stuff- but the idea behind a talk show is to avoid it looking like you just memorized a conversation. I've never seen an NFT that wasn't a procedurally generated piece of trash. Like you can go to any artist with open commissions and they will draw whatever you want for a FRACTION of the cost of an NFT. An NFT is basically a Picrew but every time you create a character they burn down a part of the Amazon rain forest
@howareyoumoreofaclownthanme
@howareyoumoreofaclownthanme 2 жыл бұрын
I could literally hire an entire animation team to create a completely original character in an animated short and specify that that animation is mine for less than the price of one ridiculously priced art of an ugly monkey or a basic Picrew 'girlfriend' aimed at horny guys with too much to spend. Hell, I'm willing to bet that I'd be able to hire an entire animation studio to create a feature length film about my character for less than the price of an NFT collection. It's just mindboggling to me that people settle for less than mediocrity. EDIT: To the NFT bro comically missing the point below: yes, NFTs can have good art. It's still more environmentally friendly and supportive to artists to just commission them the normal way. Studio Ghibli films cost anywhere from 11 million to 34 million dollars to make. This is actually pricey in terms of animation already, but Ghibli created absolute classics that stand the test of time, and it didn't involve ruining the environment. Just imagine this: for the price of 24 NFTs valued at 1 million dollars each, you could have funded the making of Howl's Moving Castle. For the price of 19 similar NFTs, you could have funded Spirited Away. Just because you slap a piece of technology on some decent art does not mean it's worth a hefty price tag, especially if it's just a single fucking image that you don't even actually own.
@entothechesnautknight1762
@entothechesnautknight1762 2 жыл бұрын
It's because the cost comes from "minting" the NFT, which is taking x Ethereum, and binding it to the NFT token though proof of work. Aka They taped a 20$ bill to the back of a receipt that says you own this receipt and that's supposed to give it value, even though it takes away the use abd purpose it had beforehand.

As an artist i feel like NFTs as a concept are fundamentally not about art. This is about money and this is the most insane way capitalism has ever interacted with art. I even understand paying a zillion dollars for a solid blue painting with a line on it more than paying tens of thousands for a png. At least there's something to be said of owning art that is personal, customized, or tangible.
@mkat8505
@mkat8505 2 жыл бұрын
NFT can be as personalized and customizable as regular art. Sure people can screenshot it, just like someone can take a picture of a painting or make a print or even make an impressive replica; but that print would not be the same as the original Van Gogh. The second art became monetized, it became more than something done for pure pleasure. People have been using art to embezzle money for a long time now. If people want it, someone will find a way to profit. NFTs really are just digital trading cards, where you can prove that yours is in fact the original. They are even making specialized digital frames so you can hang the NFT in your house. Still super weird, but it's just something new we don't understand yet.

@@mkat8505 I would disagree to be honest, I feel like commissioning an art piece would be way more supportive of artists rather that paying for a randomized PNG. Also, with commissioned art, it can have value according to many factors such as skill and whoever drew it; with nfts it has nothing ‘special’ about it as most of the time they’re generated randomly. That’s my opinion- feel free to disagree,

As an artist, NFT are just bad - people say that they want to support artists, that's why they spend so much on NFTs, yet they don't want to pay 20 buck for a full custom made artwork. If people really cared about artists, they would commission them or buy their gadgets; and if you can't afford to pay for stuff, you can always support them sharing their artworks and liking their post (especially with smaller artists like me this truly helps a lot). Overall this is just a big and more complicated pyramid scheme.

I’ve commented this on a couple posts, but I think it would be useful in this thread as well! As an artist myself who is pursuing a degree in fine arts, NFTs can be incredibly useful for artists’ control of their works. Many times artists will sell a piece to someone for a cheaper price, but once the artist becomes popular, the person who bought the original work can resell it for up to 10 times the buying price. While it’s awesome that the artist’s work increases in value, they receive absolutely no percentage of that resell. In the fine art world, NFTs are becoming an incredibly effective way to control the percentage that the artist gets from every resell of that piece. Say they sold the original work for thousand dollars, and someone resells that for a million, they can decide on the royalties that they get off of that piece. While I get the ridiculousness of buying memes for a shit ton of money, there is definitely a benefit for artists if they are able to use the system correctly. My professor is actually doing research right now regarding the fine art market and the use of NFTs, and the stuff that she’s finding out is incredibly interesting and a value to people who want to make a career out of selling their art. Just thought it would be cool to share some of the benefits of NFTs! I know that the first time I ever heard of them I thought it was stupid, but after learning a little bit more about how they can actually benefit the art world, I think they’re pretty cool! You can definitely use NFTs on physical works as well, it just acts as sort of a title that a person owns, and that title gets transferred whenever they sell the piece!

my issue with the meta girlfriends isn’t even that they’re not real, or that the dudes can’t get laid irl or whatever. to me the problem is the fact they view women that way in the first place…literal commodities? they want to buy “girlfriends”? they think buying the girlfriend means they can see her naked? I mean I’m not saying they all view real women the exact same way but that raises some fucking massive red flags. like unpopular opinion here but I don’t care if you date anime girls or whatever. but buying them? to be entitled to exclusive viewing of their naked bodies? that’s weird. really fucking weird

no that is literally correct, they literally do view real women the same way. There's a SUPER popular "relationship" podcast on spotify where the main host has said some wild shit that all points to him literally thinking of women as property. He thinks its cheating for a woman to have an instagram if he's dating them, and thinks because "I buy you things, only I get to decide how things go."

I think the comparison to Pokémon cards is still being generous to NFTs. you can get people inflating prices but if a card is expensive it's usually because it was a rare print and/or is a desirable one. more recent cards have been known to intentionally run short stock to inflate prices but even still they're physical items with meaning. NFTs are entirely not unique and their "rarity" is completely artificial while being completely destructible because you can screenshot and repost that image anywhere

If I get a comic commission of my furry OC zalithar, the conqueror of stars and sower of nations, getting hard vored by a Lesbian salazzle polycule, then not only did I get something I personally wanted, I also stimulated the economy by giving money to a laborer and value generator that will go out into the wider economy, brought something entirely original into the world, and brought a new form of enjoyment for multiple other people too. Meanwhile, spending that much on NFTs just gives that money to leeches who will hoard it all between themselves, and I get a worthless hyperlink that might not even work if the DMCA takedown notice goes through.

I can't stand NFTs. We had a perfectly fine system of art online! It was no mans land! You wanted a drawing of a monkey in a hat? You went searched around for an artists who's style you liked, and you got their rates and commissioned them! Why bring all this stalk market crap into it? Why make ugly art? Why make it hard to get and use? You want a free market libertarian art world? You had one! Then you stole their work, minted it as your own, and now Deviant art has a program to scan your work for NFTs to make sure my arts not getting stolen. Useless tech bro! All of them.

What really annoys me about the meta girlfriend NFTs is, that they are marketed as sexy even though they have the same art style as half of these hyper sexualized mobile game ads, that have nothing to do with the actual game. If you wanted to pay a lot of money for unique NSFW art, why not commission an artist. There are a lot of people who will draw stuff that’s way more appealing and you can actually tailor the artwork to your taste.

It’s just weird because it seems like they’re trying to play up the utility of the NFT itself (if you can call the ability to jerk off to something utility, which i feel like you can). And NFT’s just have no fucking utility. They never have, not even the utility of just being nice to look at. I mean, there’s nice art that’s been minted, but as evidenced by the fucking apes, the quality of the art is completely irrelevant. NFT’s literally just serve the purpose of indicating that you spent a shitload of actual money on theoretical money so that the galaxy brains who think that shit’s “the future” will invite you to their circle jerk. Like if NSFW NFT sellers actually wanted to compete with actual NSFW digital artists, they would never fucking be able to. The whole thing isn’t based on any functional product, it’s just based on hyping up cryptocurrency and block chains. They’ll never be able to compete with people who have actual functional products and when people like metagirfriends try to their product is just comically sad.
