I already have NH-U12S Chromax, it's really good. More options for customers, the better. Can't wait for another Noctua CPU cooler in Chromax series, especially NH-U12A.

Standard model is now $70 on amazon. Kind of scummy to raise the price of the NH-U12S to make the redux look like a good deal. I'll pass and buy a scythe instead.

@@boboftww I bought a scythe mugen 5 rev. B 2 weeks ago and then this redux cooler came out. Now I’m conflicted. The price difference is $10 but scythe will presumably be quieter and probably cooler too. Although 2 years vs 6 year warranty + future cpu bracket support is really juicy. I feel like I’ll probably stay with scythe this time

I'm impressed with the NH-U12S Redux. I have one cooling an i5 12600KF, and under full CPU stress testing, temps peaked at 74C. It idles around 29C. Under most uses, it stays under 64C. Noise levels are unobtrusive.

Seems perfect for situations where I have upgraded so many parts that I can build a 2nd PC and just need a CPU cooler an some RAM (which is a situation I am in right now...and this is probably what I will buy. Thank you Noctua. Im a fan for life.

And they're not soldered to the fins. But the fan has higher performance, so things should balance, more or less.

Hello, do you know if it's possible to attach 15mm thick fans to the NH-U12S cooler? I know that the included clips are meant for 25mm and I'm not sure if Noctua has an offering for 15mm.

I have the SecuFirm (not SecuFirm2, I repeat not the SECUFIRM2!) and a NH-D15 that is over 10 years old. Will the original secufirm mounting plate and hardware work with the lga1200 socket or do I need the newer NM-i115x kit? I can't get an answer anywhere and it is the only thing stopping me from getting my PC built.

D15 has been introduced in 2014 and never used the backplate with rubber parts, so perhaps you have NH-D14? Does it look like this? noctua.at/en/nm-i3-mounting-kit If yes, you can use it on LGA1200, it's the same as 115x, instructions are here: noctua.at/pub/media/blfa_files/manual/noctua_nm_i3_kit_manual_en.pdf In short, everything that works on 115x will also work on 1200: noctua.at/en/productfaqs/productfaq/view/id/236/

Thank you for your feedback, glad to hear you found this helpful. Other customers prefer to use different pastes such as our NT-H2 though, so having NT-H1 pre-applied would be more cumbersome for them. Don't worry too much about paste amounts, as long as you follow our guidelines and get the amount roughly right, you will be fine.

Hi I have. 12700k and I don’t plan on overclocking it which cooler would you recommend u12s/redux or the u12a? Would the u12a be a waste of money for me?

With its aggressive turbo mode that pushes up to 240W, the 12700K pushes coolers to their limits even without traditional overclocking. The NH-U12A will give you slightly better results and also run slightly quieter, so it definitely wouldn't be a waste of money.

One less heat pipe, one use paste, one less fan mounting kit, no y-cable... don't want to be pessimistic as I was looking forward to it but this better be a whole lot cheaper than the standard version to be worthwhile. Will have to wait and see for benchmarks.. Edit: In the UK redux is £45, the regular NH-U12S is £54, but the mounting kit is £15, minus the fan that makes the kit about ~£3. So taking both into account the actual price difference is...£6? So they've made a bunch of design cuts and managed to shave off a mighty £6 for this 'budget' cooler...this better perform identically to the NH-U12S.

You know how they fixed this? They hiked up the price of the standard u12s lmao. Atleast in italy, you could buy that cooler for 59 eu, now it's 69 eu. Pretty scummy manuever from them, and this comes from a guy who has been a noctua buyer for over a decade. And imo it performs worse. Noctua main appeal was the incredible silent operations other than the cooling ofc. This thing is louder and most likely will perform worse as it has 4 heat pipes instead of 5 of the 12s

Why you didnt mention one heatpipe loss at the redux version ? It won't make a lot of impact at budget cpus but it will make a noticable difference at higher tdp cpus or overclocking.

There's so much more to cooler performance than the number of heatpipes! Keep in mind that the redux version has a more powerful (albeit slightly louder) fan to make up for one heatpipe less. Even at more than 250W such as on the 13900K, we typically see less than 10W difference between these two coolers.

Sounds like there was a shipping mistake either by Amazon or by us and of course we'll make sure to sort this out for you. If you ordered from Amazon.at, the easiest way to fix this should be to use their standard return procedure but if this isn't available, we will find some other way. Hopefully, it should be clear to you that it wouldn't make any sense for us to intentionally send customers different items than they ordered. Mistakes can happen though.

I'm still waiting for a Noctua NH-U14S chromax.Black(to match the rest of the setup) for Threadripper! The Dual Tower for Threadripper(Black too, to match the rest of the setup) seems to be a more distant dream every day, since I heard that Noctua would be working on a Dual Tower for CPUs like Threadripper and Xeon-W!

Ahem... Either get the full NH-U12S or save your money and get the Evo 212. Honestly, my old Evo 212 has higher fin density and is awefully close in performance (3c) under load, to my NH-U14S. I admit that the NH-U14S is quieter under full load, but under normal loads like gaming and at idle, the Evo 212 is still very quiet. By the way, when will Nocuta start shipping the regular retail coolers with at least a Black fan? That would help the appearance thing in home builds tremendously, even if you don't have a Cromax cooler. P.S. am I the only one that noticed the Redux version of the NH-U12S only has 4 heat pipes, not 5? I find it ironic, that the "cheap" version actually looks better with the grey fan...

yeah, the noise is the biggest issue, I wonder if you'd be able to push the top tier fans with less fancy packaging and no accessories (except basic pads) at reasonably lower price than your regular cause redux fans (and airflow oriented S12A too to be honest) simply don't cut it and if you want to go all A12x25 even little price drop would be appreciated

Don’t bother with noctua beside the D15, the redux fans are loud af, the brown color sucks and the chromax stuff is even more overpriced than the normal versions. Quality is great though.

Not a fan of the price hike the u12s and the chromax black has gotten after the release of this redux. Seriously noctua, you have been so consumer friendly for such a long time, why pulling off something like that now of all time where pc building is as fd up as we've never seen before?! Looks extremely bad and like a predatory manuever due to the global pandemic. Not a fan of this move tbh.

Please note that this is our first price increase in more than 15 years. Raw material, labour and component costs have increased considerably over the years and, unfortunately, the prices for many key components such as engineering plastics, ICs and packaging material have literally skyrocketed since the global pandemic began. We have postponed this as long as we possibly could, but at a certain point, we simply had no other option. Thank you for your understanding!
