Loving these tutorials, got into nhl 21 this year never played before.

I wish I could find a guide on how to actually defend, not how to switch to a different player so the AI defends in your place... I play Chel, I want to know how/when to hit without getting out of position or stick checking without tripping. When to use which move to defend as best as possible. It's mostly to be better in 3's with no AI (except goalies)... So as much as I can appreciate your input to help people, it unfortunately didn't help me. It's crazy to see players that seem to have magnets on their sticks, not only poking from behind but literally steal the puck from behind me... I want a magnet stick too...

This is great but player switching is god awful this year. At least once per game I get scored on a 2-1 rush because the game won't let me change to the only defenseman that's defending the rush. I know you can aim to who you want to change to but it doesn't help and it's just sloppy.

I hate how when you're playing really good and the AI just has to do a little bump off the puck for you if you have to work three times as hard to get the puck. I play all star

Good tips! Been getting beat by cross creases a lot lately so I’ll try these tips out. One thing though is player switching this year is somehow more awful then it’s been in years. There are times I know where to be but I simply can’t switch to the right guy.

Add one thing to strategies...a slider for how much you want your AI to cover an out of position player. I think that would help allot imo:) Great vid, thanks 😊

I've found the best way to defend in be a GM is just to stop playing and the attacking team end up losing the puck.

Manual back skating is the key imo. This allows you to put your defenseman in the right position very quickly. Turn off auto back skate.

when i play hut rush i feel my other forward or defensemen never joins a 2-1 with me. is this a strategy i can turn on where my AI will be more aggressive for those rushes?

Have done this same thing since 18. But with this year my problem is that the player im controlling is not stopping the passes. And i mean i am in the perfect spot on the passing lane. Sometimes my playes takes the pass but atleast 3 or 4 go trough and end up in an easy goal. Thats too much per game. And i mean any kind of pass will go trough even if i am standing on the right puck path. I understand if its a slap pass then its ok but ffs even passes with super slow speed are going trough, sometimes the passes go trough even 2 or 3 players are on the passing lane...

My AI refuses to skate back into the dzone. The only chance I have on defense is playing aggressive at the blue line.

The skill stick is your best friend.

I think your defence is a bit passive to be honest. Maybe it works well for you? But this is coming from me who has a 40-2 record with a GAA of under 1.3 in online play. I usually like to play more aggressive and attack. But I am sure many strategies work well.

i so so so struggle with defense end of the game,i cant figure out how to check without getting caught on the turn or missing the check wether its body or puck.

I'm new here and enjoying this video. This may have been asked before but are the one - timers a "cheat" goal or is it a cause of bad Defence?. I am one of those players who constantly look for new ways of scoring but I can't help but think the one timer issue is just bad D. Most of us never bother to play good D and are way too impatient (switch to players and moving them out of position). However, there's context. I hate the plays with loose pucks, poke, loose puck, poke and then one - timer. Literally no time to get set up or those passes that just somehow squeeze through. My point is that I'm also still trying to learn to stop those passes. Maybe a different camera angle helps. Thoughts?

how do you do the long pock check while rotating the player , I play against guys that flies against my forwards and pock check from a distance. Seems like magnet sticks steeling the puck from my players. Or they have a continuous block on my passes. What buttons are pushed on the skill mode controller. My players are always in lag mode with fiber internet too.

Cool, but honestly was looking for video to help me stop getting called for tripping. The computer seems to have the ability to take puck at will-yet if I try to take puck even if it’s not near his legs somehow I get called for tripping 9999.9999999% of time. I do understand your techniques here which are cool, but can’t control puck at all, and constantly losing it to computer 🤦‍♂️ idk maybe it’s in a different video of yours

Sucks against computers now I played superstar last year this year can’t even beat pro challenges games broken on pro we should still crush them when all my team is 85 plus playing lvl 55 overall players that blow by my guys like wtf is that lol

Any tips on exiting defensive zone. I give up so many goals on turnovers.

biggest tip what i can personally give is to not play with offensive defensemen like karlsson, he just cant defend and keeps dragging himself out of position.

this years squad battles is not worth the boredom against superstar ai. games are sweatier than rivals and rewards are not really good at all.
