Owen Power had the late OT-winner called back for offside although Alex Tuch finished it off shortly after, potting the shootout winner as the Buffalo Sabres rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in a thriller.

Honestly well done Buffalo. Gave up a goal in the first minute and a shorthanded goal. Plus won the game only for it to be called back. You earned this one lol

I think the Draisaitl-McCleod-Foegele line was one of the changes that brought the Oilers out of the early season slump. So I’m not surprised to see both Foegele and McCleod have goals today! They seem to do well paired with Draisaitl. If I’m not mistaken, ever since Perry was brought in, that second line hasn’t been used. Perry has been awesome (no blame towards him at all), but I just think today’s second line should be used more often. **Edit - I posted this without watching the clip. I feel vindicated that the announcers agree with me. *gives self a handshake*

Here for the shootout after shutting the game off after I thought my Sabres won in OT. The Sabres would be a bottom 3 team if it wasn’t for UPL. He’s been fantastic.

Shocking... I am so proud of this team. Adversity once again, and even with top stars traded away the Sabres found a way to win. LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK was awesome after those two quick goals allowed, solid team effort. I love these guys! Let's Go Buffalo!! ⚔⚔⚔⚔⚔

Thank god for sportsnet, because my service live, THAT I PAY FOR, ended the game at the overtime goal and that was that! Straight on to the next program. If i didn't see the sportsnet clip, i would have no idea the shootout even happened! 😏

At this point in the season everyone is hurting. If that is the case to where it's affecting his play, it's best to give him a game or two off. I doubt it's enough to call it an injury. It was an off game for one of the best players on the planet. It happens. Wish he would just go full blast in on a shootout attempt, make a move, head fake, whatever and take quick shot. Buffalo deserved the win.

Nugent-Hopkins shouldn't have tried to bat the puck down, though. Set up an easy wrist shot by doing so which beat the goalie.

Nice going SPORTSNET video editor. You got a bit confused at the end of OT, but then it was... weird. The NHL's own KZfaq highlights thought that it wasn't necessary to show the winning goal in the shootout, but you did. So you're alright in my book.

McDavid literally assisted on Buffalo’s second goal with a turnover. He also had an embarrassing leading attempt at end of game which almost led to another buffalo goal. He’s not the best player on Edmonton. Drai is better 2 way player

But even so, teams are still paying for decisions GMs made in the years leading up to it, and the new GMs that eventually took over since still haven't learned from those mistakes. Oilers could have moved Ceci despite facing salary retention, but would have been able to add Broberg in the deal as well, but no dice. The contracts hurting the Oilers are Campbell and Nurse (both signed with Holland).

The refs were clearly on Edmonton’s side. They got away with blatant trips but when Tage barely slashes an Oilers player the refs call it. The Sabres got screwed on the winner and had to win it again.
