I attended one of your 3 day camps in Bloomington MN as a 40 year old coach in 2002..elevated my adult hockey league play no doubt...but revolutionized the training I took back to my initiation hockey program...two hands in traffic..one hand open ice..boom!! The edge work drills with and without the puck were amazing!!

“Look at him put one hand on the stick”... is this really a power skating move... you learn this everywhere
@patrickfraser5555 жыл бұрын
I learned that in power skating over 30 years ago in pee wee and bantam. Back then it wasn't common to skate and generate speed while carrying the puck with a proper stride, Gretzky perfected the skill and the top powerskating coaches in the day taught it. Now, I teach kids in initiation hockey how to do it🤓

Petey's weight and the fact he wasn't lighting up the CHL was a major factor. Weight always has been a factor in drafting. Look at the draft list of some of the best small players.
@WildBCFly5 жыл бұрын
Cody Peabody he wasn’t in the CHL. He was in the SHL which is a mens league. Matthews got tons of hype for playing in the Swiss league, which is way worse than the SHL. The hate is just cause he’s not Canadian

I don’t think his weight is an issue, he’s 176 not that small. I think his problem his he has small feet (skates) and is prone to losing balance

@Sam-24685 жыл бұрын
Just need the right kind of weight. Good training, add lean muscles mass and he’ll be bigger, stronger and faster
@Sam-24685 жыл бұрын
Ry M. Agreed. The one by Matheson was kinda bs though. He put his stick between his legs and tied him up before bodyslamming so he had no chance even if he was bigger

Clearly you never saw Gretzky play; I hated him at the time, but really it's a few years too early to be making such a comparison, and Pettersson will have a very short career at the rate he's getting injured; I'll bet he'll be out again at least one more time this season.
@mulph77385 жыл бұрын
can't compare the leagues. it was a beer league when Gretzky played compared to now. Every play on the ice happens so fast that Gretzky would loose his mind.

lifting the leg; not quite explained correctly. My understanding is, for well balanced players it shifts the majority of the weight at speed to the blade of the stick rather than in the feet allowing for stick flex for a snap release or transition to a backhand deke through clever transition of weight. Hes not 'kicking' it up really, its just a heavy transition of weight forward.
@jamesgunn29405 жыл бұрын
I think the other thing that he didn't say but I believe Glantz was thinking about was the angle. His knee is pointing to the right, like he's going to shoot far side. While youth players probably can't pull it off, it might throw off the goalie by changing the angle of the shot when he rotates.
