Gustavsson had a save in OT with the shaft of his stick too. Both goalies and defenses were putting on a show last night. 52 saves from a goalie that has never played in the playoffs. Sam Steel's breakaway goal to tie it up in his first playoff game should be an honorable mention too.

Others have also said it, but I was very surprised to not see Nathan MacKinnon's hat trick in this video! Three hat-pick worthy goals, wrapped together, that won the division for the Avalanche in the regular season's final game! Seems worthy of a mention, I'd say!

To be fair, no one saw gustavsson being this good. He was supposed to be fleury's back up this season then let his contract expire and wallstedt come up next year. That was the plan at least.

@MEDIA ODD oilers already had a game in the playoffs....maybe because of that. Also, Steve rarely gives hat-picks to oilers except for McDavid when there often is more nice things than McDavid ;)

This is what happens when Producer Drew isn't doing the work on the show : all the cool Avalanche stuff gets *missed* They *LITERALLY* missed the hat trick for Mikko all the way back in the early part of the season when the Avs were in Finland.

I’m a panthers fan but I think this series might be more interesting then people are giving it credit. Panthers didn’t play horrible last night just not able to score. I think if they can figure it out they might be able to make it last. Maybe not win but it could last. Lyon locked it down last night other then that one soft goal but he got 99 percent of it it just slipped under his glove. Either way ggs

Brock Faber has an amazing career ahead of him. But his story so far is incredible: Grew up in Maple Grove, MN All-B1G Freshman Team 2x All-B1G First Team 2x B1G DPOY 2-year captain for the Minnesota Golden Gophers 2 Frozen Four appearances 2nd-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft (45th overall; LA Kings) Traded to the Wild in 2022 (sent Kevin Fiala to the Kings) Already making his impact felt on the Wild, playing like a top 4 defenseman Brock Faber is the definition of home-grown talent, and I cannot wait to see more from him as his career in the State of Hockey continues to unfold.

@@addison3850 I agree. not just for Avs either (even tho they missed the mikko hat trick 50th goal night with all its glory too) Edit: for reference, Mikko scored his 50th goal, a hat trick, tied the team record in goals, did it on the 96th day of the year (his number is 96), exactly 20 years to the day since hte last avs player scored 50 goals.

love playoffs hat picks when my Rags are in there - after Igors performance (1 late pen. shot away from a shutout) and getting goals from all over the lineup to win 5-1 while getting outshot 28-23 in the game - we werent even kicked into high gear tbh - Shesterkin can steal a series, tbh i think if any team can beat Boston it'll be the NYR but not saying its probable

He channeled his inner Patrick Hornquist (who was also a 210th overall pick back when there were only 30 teams in the league, thus making him the last player taken in that entry draft). Great pass by Arvidsson but that's one the goaltender has to stop. I don't care if you've played goal for 5 games or 2500. You can't let shots like that get past you and in the open for rebounds.

I'd love to think that Gustavson silenced all the haters last night, but with how every single last analyst on KZfaq that I watched was ranting, raving, and all but salivating over Oettinger, I have my doubts as to whether the Wild will still be able to buy themselves any respect come hell or high water. Also, you missed what I think is the "Paddle Save Emporium" candidate of the year when Gustavson saved a shot not with the paddle, but with the piece of his stick above his blocker. As I commented on another video, gives a whole new meaning to getting "shafted," lol.
