Detroit announcers are that IMO. They are wonderfully pessimistic and tell you how good the other team is often and get genuinely excited when the Red Wings score or come close.

Re: Thatcher Demko.. I hate that new school goalie style where the leg closest to the post is on the ice and they're trying to hug the post...makes zero sense. 2010s butterfly would have taught him to hug the leg closest to the post perpendicular to the bar, with the glove and head blocking the top-most part of the net, stick and other leg covering the 5-hole / pass across. He would have saved that goal.

I do agree that full cages should be worn in the coming years. It'll take some adjusting to the players, but they did most likely play with it before at some point. A lot of "needless" injuries to the face could be avoiding by something so simple. I can't say how actually restrictive it is at a NHL level, since I don't play at a NHL level, but I have never had any issues myself with vision.

I play beer-league hockey and I would never get on the ice without a full cage. A lot of guys plays without, even after a teammate got a puck in the face last year. White away jersey, looked like someone was killed.

Not a first - Same thing Happened to Buffalo (Ryan Miller) years ago. He was trying to make a play with the puck behind his net, and shot it right through the hole. Hitting the photographer. After the game Miller went back and gave the guy his goalie stick.

RE Full face protection. People who end up in the NHL don't start in the NHL, or in an NHL farm team. They start as kids, where they have to have full face protection. Then they play in high school, where they have to have full face protection. Then, if they don't go straight to the NHL, they play in college, where they have to have full face protection. They are used to it. There is NO reason not to have it.
