NADP and NAD are coenzymes for many dehydrogenases, participating in many hydrogen transfer processes. NAD is important in catabolism of fat, carbohydrate, protein, and alcohol, as well as cell signaling and DNA repair, and NADP mostly in anabolism reactions such as fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis.High energy requirements (brain) or high turnover rate (gut, skin) organs are usually the most susceptible to their deficiency. Although the two are identical in their vitamin activity, nicotinamide does not have the same pharmacological effects (lipid modifying effects) as niacin. Nicotinamide does not reduce cholesterol or cause flushing. As the precursor for NAD and NADP, niacin is also involved in DNA repair.
Severe deficiency of niacin in the diet causes the disease pellagra, which is characterized by diarrhea, dermatitis, and dementia, as well as Casal's necklace lesions on the lower neck, hyperpigmentation, thickening of the skin, inflammation of the mouth and tongue, digestive disturbances, amnesia, delirium, and eventually death, if left untreated. Common psychiatric symptoms of niacin deficiency include irritability, poor concentration, anxiety, fatigue, restlessness, apathy, and depression. Studies have indicated that, in patients with alcoholic pellagra, niacin deficiency may be an important factor influencing both the onset and severity of this condition. Patients with alcoholism typically experience increased intestinal permeability, leading to negative health outcomes.

Hi just bought some niacin, but I have one problem. I heard that when you take niacin your body can warm a bit. It is not a real problem but I live in China and now with the corona virus we have temperature control every where, all the time. So I would better not have temperature else I will be sent in isolation. May be I should take the vitamin B3 at night before going to bed? Is it ok at night ?

You can sometimes get what they call the niacin flush where your skin will turn red and it will look weird for a little bit but you should do it because it's very good for you and I hear that niacin flush is very important look around at other videos about niacin and you will see how important it is I don't know if I would take it at night if I were you maybe it might keep you awake I don't know just do your research but it is a very good thing to do look at the nootropics expert channel about it also . To get an idea of what I'm talking about with the niacin flush some guy made of funny video where he talks about turning into the red dragon it's here somewhere I think I might be titled something like I'm the Red Dragon

@@gardensofthegods I am not afraid of been red, but I am afraid of warming my body, because here we are having thermal control 20 time per day, police in the street even have thermal meter glasses. So if my temperature goes upper than 37.1 I will be immediately sent in quarantine. what I do not want. Else I took it for 2weeks and I feel good, but I stop it now because I do not want my body to be addicted by it. I will restart in 2 month may be

@@DrMungli yes I also have a little bit of trouble with the accent . Doctor you might also want to know that some people have trouble with that slight echoey sound in the room... this is why you would be better off talkin with a microphone that absorbs that sound.... I don't know how to explain it.... I'm sorry I wish I knew how to tell you it can bother some people

Very interesting, my wife is fighting for her life on a ventilator now because the doctor at the hospital she's at doesn't believe she has Pallegra, but she was diagnosed with it at the previous transfering hospital.

@@NinjaKDot I'm really sorry . I have to admit I'm a little confused about why she was originally in the hospital.... are you telling me it was the pellagra ? Or something else .

@@NinjaKDot I actually had to look this up because I didn't know what it was . I saw a thing just now where a man who was at Mayo Clinic got help with it and is better . Well I really hope you can convince them to give her some kind of quick acting niacin... to see if it helps . But regretfully you know how a lot of these hospitals and doctors are all about Big Pharma . Please keep me posted.... it's too bad you can't bring in a doctor of alternative medicine to look at her.... is there any way you can do that ? Personally I don't trust a lot of those doctors . I hope your wife gets her MIRACLE . I hope you both will have many blessings and this will all be put behind you . Sending healing thoughts towards her .

@@gardensofthegods it started off as severe Pallegra, due to mitochondria damage from levaquin flouroquonalone poisoning, she was given niacin at the hospital that figured it out, then later sent to rehab hospital because of the weakness associated with it, Dr there stopped the Niacin thinking he would discover another reason, Pallegra came back another Dr started Niacin again, then hospital aquired pneumonia, then respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, then diagnosed with ARDS, and had her flown back to original hospital because the rehab was just waiting for her to die, at the original hospital she is making slow progress but she isn't slipping back any so there's still hope she will pull through
