Never know what you will catch in the Niagara River, had the intention of going for smallmouth bass since its July but was totally unprepared for this fish. Had only a ultralight rod with 5lb mono and I surprised myself that I was still able to land it, hope you guys enjoyed!

We used to fish the whirlpool 25 years ago. It was unbelievable fishing. I could never walk up that escarpment now. Many times I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest climbing back up. Got a lot of trout and salon down there. Was always worth it. Gorgeous place to spend time.

Right on man, if we’re going to promote our fishery, then we have to promote its care. Glad the fish wasn’t wasted!

The walk back is definitely tiring especially during a hot summer day. The Niagara is amazing, so much multi species potential, even if you get skunked it’s always a nice hike. Thank you for watching, Cheers!

If you are ever considering releasing a steel head, try to refrain from taking it out of the water at all. They are not Hardy once they remove. No issue with keeping. Ive lesrned the hard way
