The city of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory on a beautiful July day. Approaching from the North over the Yukon River. Great footage of a floatplane landing ahead of the camera plane.

That video reminds me of the countless times I landed the Air North Cessna 185 C-FZRF just south of the dam and made the radio call to Whitehorse tower .... "ZRF final for Schwatka" and would hear .... "No reported traffic, cleared to land at Schwatka Lake, pilot's discretion." Some of the best times of my life where those years spent in Whitehorse. Many's the time I wish I were still there.

I cannot believe this video is 9 years old already. It’s been in my favourites since it was published. Our quaint little town has undergone substantial growth and transformation since this was filmed.. a current flyby video to compare would be immensely appreciated.. cheers

This makes me so homesick for Whitehorse and the Yukon. I'm a lonely Yukoner trapped in British Columbia but so wanting to come home.

Nope in the 70's and worked for Air North when the operation was first starting. I was the first full-time pilot that worked for Joe and "Ace." I loved it there and was well treated, the flying type was great, but I left due to what at the time were limited professional advancement possibilities. That was to later change of course, and many's the time I wished I'd remained.

Great memories of flying in the Yukon while I was based in Whitehorse. Beautiful video quality! The river level seems higher than I remember it. All the best, and as Bob Hope used to sing at the end of his performances .... "Thanks For The Memories."

Came to this post after reading the opening lines of a 1982 science fiction novel entitled "The Identity Matrix": "I should have known better than to go to a bar on a Friday night, even in Whitehorse, Yukon territory."

Omg, along that flightpath lie 2 of my homes, and I had a houseboat-restaurant business on Schwatka lake - ha!- the in- and out-going daily floatplanes liked to swoop low above my deck laden with passengers, tried to scare the ! out of me, but never succeeded.
