This video shows how you can create clickable actions that will help speed up combat. It also shows how to create a dashboard token that will allow you to easily track the number of spells a character has remaining.

You just keep coming up with new info that I haven't see before. Well done. I also really appreciate that you keep them very short and to the point.

A great tip that has saved me a lot of time is making a blank character sheet that has a bunch of attacks and traits already on the page. Then you duplicate and open the copy, dragging and dropping from the compendium as usual, but now we just have to delete and rename attacks instead of making new ones each time. I like the idea of using token actions to cast spells, but I prefer just using the sheet so I can see the guys options. I haven't had more than one caster though, so maybe if I do I'll try your way. Great vids, still very helpful a year later

You're a wizard, Nick! I love seeing people like you do stuff like this! My jaw dropped at the token action coming from pressing UP in the Roll20 chat, lol.

Oh man, that's such a bad and unobvious UX from roll20's side... Why couldn't they just make all character/token's abilities and/or spells token actions automatically? Well, please forgive me my complaints. Thanks for the tips

These are wonderfully helpful for monsters, and also for my new players who are less confident at navigating their character sheet. Bravo!

Just a thought…. If you’re a ‘behind the screen’ kinda GM, then turning these buttons for npcs into ‘/w gm’ macros lets you roll on npc character sheets without your players seeing the roll

It seems like these buttons hard-code your to-hit and damage numbers. So, if you want to add any temporary modifiers from spells, they won't be reflected.

Is there a way to nest the token actions show it doesn’t flood the screen. I’m playing a caster and things are getting a little cluttered.

I haven't tried this myself, but I think this forum post will do what you're looking for -app.roll20.net/forum/post/10695950/wrapping-macro-bar-when-you-have-many-buttons

I make it easier to make the game more fun. I give spell points to all spellcasters, then just use one of the circles for spell points on the PC's token. So I do not need an extra token. If they have 6 spell points and cast a 2nd level spell, they subtract 2 from 6. Now they have 4 left. Super easy.

So I have added in Token Actions. No issues there. What I am wondering is there a way to add a character to it? Basically I have character Templates for Area of Effect. What I want to know is where in the token action script would I add the information to link a character. Example I have “Fireball” added to my Token Actions. %{-KOp_cFRthKtiZX6i2_5|repeating_attack_-kwhkqcoql0-jfsb5m1h_attack} I want to add the “20’ radius” template to the table top when the spell is cast, so all we need to do is move the drawing to where they are focusing the spell. Would this be similar to your “Summoning a Spiritual Weapon” Tutorial? Would I have to write a full script or is there a way to just link the 20’ radius character to the fireball spell? Again.. thank you for your videos.. they have been a huge help. In our group of players, it is unfortunate that the DM (myself) is probably the least tech savvy. I am beginning to think that I might just need to put you on my personal payroll. :D

Hmm. That's an interesting scenario. I've never tried anything like that before. If I'm understanding your setup correctly, you have a template drawing, right? If that's the case, select that drawing and make it the default token for the Area of Effect character sheet. Then when you drop it onto the board, you could click the token action for the fireball spell.

Keeping trak of Spell slots is great, but how to do that as a player?
@NickOlivo
@NickOlivo 4 жыл бұрын
As a player you should be able to track the slots on your character sheet. If you'd like a Dashboard Token for that, your DM should be able to set one up for you.

What about when you have multiple of the same kind of creature? Normally i set the tokens to represent none so that they don't link their hp. Is there a way to still use this or some easy way to avoid having to set them all to none?
@NickOlivo
@NickOlivo 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, what you can do is leave the token so it represents your goblin or whichever creature it is, but unlink just the HP value. That way all the tokens still point to the creature's character sheet, but the HP will only change for the selected token (I'm posting a video on Thursday that shows how to do that, so stay tuned :) )
