This is a really cool interview to watch Nick Bockwinkel keep kayfabe and have an intelligent conversation with someone asking him real questions as the same time.

Knowing Nick and being Nick's friend, this was Nick at his best. He had it all as a wrestler and was absolutely one of the best of his era. Few were better! I am forever blessed to have had his respect and friendship.

This is an amazing interview with one of the master craftsmen of the squared circle… Nick gave away no “secrets” of the sport, gave great insights to how wrestling is done properly, he saluted longtime rivals …. and the interviewer was great too. This was a real hidden gem!!👍🏻👍🏻

People born since the WWF became the WWE never lived through the times when a lot of people were arguing about wrestling being scripted. Nick goes out there and explains it the same way a faith healer or magician would defend "real magic". Nick had better answers here than your parents had explaining how Santa Claus makes it to a few billion homes that don't have chimneys in a single night. I love how he pulled off the "practicing football plays" with rehearsing a match comparison. Lol.

This is an amazing interview Bockwinkle was a very intelligent guy. He handled the wrestling is phony questions masterfully. Such poise and elocution . He should be studied thoroughly. He is actually in my top ten of all time in top three. I wish Nick Bockwinkle and Bret Hart could have had an extended series of matches. Nick may have been the original excellence of execution. I have seen them in one match it was fantastic.

One of the most underrated wrestlers of all-time. Nick Bockwinkel would probably be on my Mount Rushmore of wrestlers. He was the total package, and could wrestle against opponents who were high-flyers, or 400+ pounds.

North Stars season was over in early April, as Chicago took the series 3-1. So, this took place in April. Nick was the best and I was lucky to have watched his and Bobby Heenan's shenanigans, throughout my childhood. God bless em both.

Class act interview! Nick Bockwinkle was a professional through and through. He took this guys questions and knocked them out of the park without exposing kayfabe. This is how I used to defend Professional Wrestling back when it was worth defending, now it's a shit show thats overly exposed and blatantly so phony to the point where the wrestlers don't even wrestle many times. Hell they can't even do basic shit like lock up or throw a proper working punch. So glad I found this!

Pomerantz seems like the kind of guy who'd invite a magician on his show and then ask him to give away all the secrets. If you know that wrestling is a work (not a fake, there's a difference), and can't enjoy it, don't try to spoil it for everybody else. Rumor has it Pomerantz stood outside theaters next year yelling to everybody that that lightsaber duel with Luke and Vader wasn't real! Luke was booked to win!
@ArmstrongAlley
@ArmstrongAlley 9 ай бұрын
I don't think that's fair in the context of 1982 when wrestlers and wrestling promoters were still trying to insist to the public that it was all real. Pomerantz HAD to ask that question first so they could get it out of the way and have a real conversation about professional wrestling.
@GraemeCree
@GraemeCree 9 ай бұрын
@@ArmstrongAlley Yes, if you bring him on at all, you probably did have to ask that. But then why bring him on at all if you're convinced it's not real? Have you ever seen that Dick Van Dyke episode where Laura goes on a game show, and the host tricks her into revealing that Alan Brady wears a toupee? That's what's happening here. Bockwinkel isn't going to come and willingly drop some bombshell just to help Pomerantz's ratings. The best he could hope for was for Nick to screw up and say something he'd regret later. Nick was too smart to do that.

Yo, "Paul Harvey says Reaganomics works, I'm not certain I like the analogy." To hear a Dick Pomerantz, a television personality make that anti-Reagan sentiment in '82 got a pop out of me.

In fairness, 1982 was a recession year. The economy turned around in a big way later and Reagan famously said that he knew his program was working when the press and Democrats stopped using the term Reaganomics.

Inflation? We've had very little of it for the past 40 years, now it's Reagan's fault. The debt? Okay, blame 1/32 of it on Reagan. Even though the Congress always said that Reagan's budgets were dead on arrival. Crappy economic growth? Be serious. Reagan had 6.7% growth in his 4th year in office, and the US economy grew by a third bc of the recovery he touched off. I could go on.
