THIS is the Nicks review I’ve been waiting for. I’m a couple weeks out from receiving my builder pros (been waiting almost 4 months). I went with a similar build. 8” with steel toe and the walnut leather. There are not enough people doing videos on their steel toe Nicks so thank you for the video! Excited to get mine

Did you do a try on boot?
@brendandyer35792 жыл бұрын
@@bobsmith-ji2uh Yes! My boots have officially been “started”. But I had to switch from Walnut to Black leather because they are having supplier issues getting the Walnut color

@@brendandyer3579 Good luck with them. Hope they work out.

@@brendandyer3579 Mine were delayed a bit because of walnut leather supply issues, just got them 3 weeks ago. Did you ask to switch leather, or did they contact you?

I’m also a landscaper and have had the same issue with destroying boots. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens with the boots once you’ve broken them in. Good luck, they look great and I hope that they work out!

Welcome to a whole new class of boot. It looks like you are braking them in the right way (slowly). DO NOT rush the brake in. Other types of “off the shelf” boots are typically the most comfortable the day you buy them and get less and less comfortable the longer you wear them (as the foam breaks down). Nick’s are the exact opposite. They will be the least comfortable the first day and get more comfortable every time you wear them. There is no foam to break down but rather it’s all leather that will over time mold itself to she exact shape of your foot. (Think the ultimate custom orthotics). Good luck and post a follow up after 2 months.

I'm a month ahead of you as I received my Builder Pros at the end of June. Like yourself, they are the most expensive boots I've ever bought. The break-in so far has been better than I expected. The boots were a perfect fit but I do get a little pain around the top of my instep. Seeing how they perform over the next six months to a year will be very interesting.

Great overview. I look forward to an update. I bought a pair of 8" high Urban Loggers. I don't use them for work. I live out in the country so they get some light duty day to day use from normal wear to cutting up trees. I do brush them off regularly. I also put some conditioner on that heel stack from time to time.

It’s good to see someone’s gonna actually use the boots in the environment that it was intended for. I look forward to your real time reviews. I’m a subscriber.

One of the nice things about nicks is that you can send them in to be repaired and resoled.

im a flooring contractor here in fl. and if you think you put wear on toes, you should see my boots. i wear them out so much that i have to glue on toe protectors unless they are worn out while the rest of boot is still in great condition. anyways am thinking of buying a similiar boot from nicks and look forward to a follow up. thanks for the info.

I had the same problem destroying toes. I've found the solution is not tougher leather over steel toecap, but composite external toecaps. They are pretty much impervious to wear. There is more room for your toes as the toecap is external. They are warmer as there is no steel to get cold. And they don't scratch floors like a newly exposed steel toecap can. Example, Cofra Troll boots.. I want a pair or Nicks but honestly, I'm concerned about the toes.

I’ve owned those Chippewas before I have issues with heel separation on them one of the reasons I went with nicks

Looks like you got the red x Vibrams which I think are somewhat fire resistant.
@xc84872 жыл бұрын
If you clean and oil them regularly, the leather will last a long time, stay water resistant, and be comfortable.
@kipfleming90042 жыл бұрын
I will say, dragging your toes on concrete will wear out any boot. I suggest altering that habit… if you make it past the break in period with those builder pros, I kinda doubt you will continue dragging your toes cause it will be the best boot you’ve ever worn… or so everyone says.
@MrStreetninja0072 жыл бұрын
Keep them clean and oiled and should stand the test of anything you put them through

I'm working on a part 2 now that I have nearly finished breaking them in. It is mostly going to be on comfort though.

I just got a pair of Drew’s Linecutters. Seem to be similar but no steeltoes. And thanks for clarifying that it was $600 for the pair. 😂. I’d hate to think they are $600 for each boot. 😆

Could you please specify the weight grams or lb of the nick boots. the wearing comfort is only one part of the game and the boot weight on the legs is also important.
@krasnovian89192 жыл бұрын
The shipping weight for the pair was 8lbs.

What leather do you have in the Nick's--chocolate? Brown? 1964 or max support?

You go through the toes because of the steel toe and the leather is stretched over so if rips easier. If it’s not a requirement then don’t get them

So here's my thing with these boots I have a pair of builder pros and ordered another and a pair of urban loggers so I love them but the soles wear out way to fast ,that's not a Nick's thing it's a vibram thing prob is getting them resoled when nicks is so backed up
@Tingolicious12 жыл бұрын
You can them resolved at any good cobbler. But definitely send them to Nicks when it’s time for a rebuild.
