Here's my 3 month update on my nicks boots. So far they have been great. I bought a pair of carolina boots before these and the Nicks are definitely much better quality.
If you want to help me make videos visit.

Merino wool socks my friend, cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It's magical. Great boots, love the patina!

I mostly wear darn tough wool socks. The socks are great and my nicks are great but my nicks are still colder than my other boots.

Great video! I like how you compared them to boots you have personally put some work in to. Thank you.

Thanks for this video. I searched for videos reviewing the rangers when I was looking to purchase mine but there were hardly any, but plenty on the builder pro. I eventually bought them and have been really impressed so bar but only a month and a half or so in. Cool to see what they look like when they're truly broken in

Really great video! I think we’re all trying to figure out what to expect from any given boot, and I appreciate your comparison of the merits of so many different styles.

Those Nick’s look good. I have have a pair of Carolina that look almost identical. Obviously not the same quality, but they do have hard soles on them. I wear iron Rangers all the time, except in the winter and really wet weather. I don’t do construction, but wear boots every day. Always have. I keep the Rangers relatively clean and hit them with a brush and apply neats foot oil occasionally with a toothbrush. Some people like the patina look. They were about $330.00, and can get resoled obviously. I wish they made them in 8”. Nice review. Thanks

I did look at the iron rangers but they seemed a bit less of a work boot and more of a walking around looking good boot. For a work boot I really wanted at least and 8inch top, and a not very aggressive sole that wasn't a foam sole. There aren't many boots that fit that. My boots are about ready for their first conditioning and I might water proof the lower parts. We had a super wet summer and fall and the toe leather kept getting soaked by the wet grass.

I sell all sorts of boots in a store and I personally own a pair of nicks boots (Overlander), everytime I sell knowing that "American boots" are not that great makes me sad. Those nicks boots make a world of a difference compared to the mass production boots. Nice video

If I get another pair of Nick's it will probably be the Overlander or Moderate arch Builder Pro. It doesn't really seem like there's too much difference between those two boots.

Boy, I had pretty much the same experience with my Builder Pros, the uppers broke in pretty quickly and they are very comfortable, but those footbeds take FOREVER to form to my foot. I got the 11067 with the V100 lug sole (actually the Red X version which I didn’t actually ask for). I’m kinda wishing I’d gone with my first instinct and gone with the Wedge Worker boot with the wedge sole and moderate arch because the lug sole can beat you to death on concrete floors, and the high arch/heel makes hauling our mold hoist around difficult, but I’m pretty happy with them overall. They are excellent outdoor work boots. Next time I will definitely go for a lower arch/wedge sole offering for sure.

I'm looking at buying these exact same boots. Did you go a half size down from the measuring paper from nicks?
@diyVT
@diyVT 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I went a 1/2 size down and for the width I did the circumference of my foot like they say to do. However I selected the width based on the 1/2 size smaller I was ordering not the length measurement. I also did the measurements with my favorite socks on.

They are work boots, I used them working on building an addition to our shop and doing other farming work. I have some videos about our shop build on my channel. They are getting a cleaning and conditioning soon, you are right they do need it.

Can you compare/contrast the build quality/robustness of Nicks Boots (as best you can) to the other handmade boot builders? (Whites - Viberg - Wesco & a few others)
@diyVT
@diyVT 2 жыл бұрын
Not really, I haven't seen any of those in person. That said I can't find any flaws in the build quality of my Nicks. They are for sure colder than my Carolina boots but I think any boot made of the same materials would be the same. I would like to see someone with a bigger video budget like @roseanvil cut another pair of hand made boots in half. I went with Nick's because not many of the other companies have a moderate arch boots with a mini vibram sole that are 8inchs and designed for work. I would bet that you would be happy with any one of the high quality handmade boots that are being sold.

@@diyVT Thanks for the reply I have a few pair of Whites & Vibeg boots. & know they are built way better than most. I was just curious as the Nicks Boots "appear" (from videos) to be built just a bit more robust in many ways than the other handmade boots - I don't really know as I have not seen a pair of Nicks in the flesh. The all leather boot is colder as there is not a break between layers. (foam or cork on cheap boots do help with breaking the induction of the cold) I have begun wearing over the calf wool socks - that helps a bunch & it is -30 today here - so I know cold...

Sorta farming and construction. My dad and I have a farm and we sell firewood, hay and maple syrup. I also work as a carpenter / handyman / repair guy / small metal fabricator / bus driver / IT support when I am not busy with my dad's projects although lately he has had a lot of projects. So a pretty wide variety of stuff as long as it's not a big project I can probably fix or make it.

They're work boots, I use them for work not for looking good. They're not even close to being worn out, they're just starting to get broken in. I might get a different pair for looking good.
