Tylor bookers quote " "Well something Coach Saban taught us whenever we speak to the media is to not concern ourselves with external factors and he doesn't work in the facility anymore, he works in the stadium so he's considered an external factor..."

People don't realize just how bad the coaching at Alabama was before Saban. Even the "great Stallings" never won anything outside of Tuscaloosa. DeBoer will be fine.

Decision making. Like Nick was saying, know when to say ok, it's time to run. Don't try to be strictly a pocket passer. Also, the coaches need to help Milroe out some too with more designed QB plys. Not just runs but the passes he is best at.

The offense will be explosive. Deboer is offensive coach, and the talent pool here is off the charts. The defense will be .... interesting. Huge losses all around, but i'm very glad Malachi Moore is back at least.

I think Deboer is a great coach, but i'm leary about his transition into the SEC. Out of all the games he has coached, not one of those games was against an SEC opponent. And most commentators and College football fans know, even if they aren't willing to say, that SEC football is just different. Almost any team in the SEC can have a crappy season, and come out swinging when they play your team. Auburn has proven that year in and year out when they play Alabama. Ole Miss can go 1-5 in the regular season and put up 45pts on Alabama's best team. A&M can do the same thing. There aren't many PAC 12 teams that have that ability, and Deboer has to be able to prepare his team for that inevitability if he wants any shot at being near as elite as Saban was. It's not the physical game i worry about with Deboer. It's the mental game with his team. If they get big heads, and think that because they are Bama, they're going to win, Deboer is going to have to settle them down. Saban was always good at that, but from watching Deboer coach at Washington, he has not shown that ability.

DeBoer is being very smart in what he says especially pending any wins yet but he and the Tide should do well. Saban did a great job building Jalen Milroe so that now he's matured sufficiently to be a much more trustworthy effective QB , it of course helps that he's built like a Cape buffalo, a very tough MF ;-) One of Saban's most effective methods was how he developed new QBs keeping it simple and disciplined with tight restraints then gradually loosening the reins as the QB gained skill judgement and poise.

Maybe u guys can swing by fall practice and go over it with Coach K and Jalen. Last yrs Jalen isn’t gonna be close to as good as this yrs. He’s gonna be special. He sounded so composed and confident at his media day. He’s gained loads of confidence because he put in serious work. I can’t wait. He’s gonna win the heisman.

All interesting. Player mentality, Saban was very good and not only finding effective players at EACH position but ones that have the mentality to be coached by him and execute in a similar manner. Someone like Deion Sanders or any of the Miami tough boys of the 80s would not have thrived under Saban. This part of his recruitment technique is not understood well. It has also resulted in players that are less in the trouble headlines as they have a mindset of pursuit of being THEIR best, not some characature of tough guy bad a$$. As Bear Bryant said "act like you have been there before"

@D1Waddle well, true the play caller definitely shares the blame and perhaps the play was doomed from the start...but at least some blame is on Milroe too...his instincts have to kick in and he needs to at least 𝑡𝑟𝑦 to make an adjustment in his running path toward a clearer patch of field before it's too late. I mean, he just bulldozed straight into the part of the field with the most guys.
