I remember years ago during one of their games against lesser competition at home the other team scored a touchdown and the camera showed a 10 yr old kid who threw his hands up as though he is saying, "What in the world are we doing here?" Alabama won the game by over 40 pts yet they didn't shut out the other team. It's crazy isn't it?

Olympus is not nearly as difficult as the maintenance and remaining at the pinnacle of excellence. NO. Critical examination of, and unadulterated examination of facts and realities are not being bandwagon/fairweather fans, but someone who is a true fan; someone who wants the program to fight to remain at the pinnacle of Mt. I believe he knows this is not one his best teams, so he has tried a softer leadership style. They are not much better with that style so he is going back to old school. Will it work? Probably not.

@@speedracer2336 the problem is not that they aren’t one of our best teams, the problem is VISIBLE, we see HOW they play, missed assignments on blocking (OL) and blown coverage assignments (DBs) are the problem. I wouldn’t want ANYONE else coaching Alabama but coach Saban has to realize we are 10 games in and seeing the same issues, I could see if we didn’t have the talent but when someone can make an awesome play then blow it the next like Jobe, Moore, Harris, and Helloms on defense and Owens (and others) on the OL And Billingsly dropping balls EVERY game I mean really ? Play like you want to win not deserve to

Not everyone, because as a past football player and present coach. I overstand his sentiments truly before he spoke these words. I tell people this all the time. Not to take any credit for what he spoke. But some people get it, and most don't. I mean it's truly not hard to tell. Just look how everyone smiles and goes bonkers when Bama loses or they beat Bama. Like wow. It's one game and that team probably doesn't even compete for a Natty. Look at how many times Bama has lost in the regular season and still won the Natty in the same season. As long as Bama is winning. True Bama fans should always trust the process. No matter if the win is by a two point conversion or 40 points. A win is a win, and you play to win the game. We should be appreciative of the difference in these Bama teams, finding ways to win and still being able to come out on top. This is a young team, that's proving how Golden this Roll Tide Football program truly is.

He came on my visit and we both got "indoctrinated" in #RollTide life. Now I was there pre-Saban when we sucked. But now, he gets stressed if we don't make the playoffs. It's bittersweet. He was okay with his Steelers winning every few years. But now he's over the "drama" of the NFL and loves College. Me too...I prefer the game semi-pure not complete greed and hypocrisy. My dad and many Bama fans forget the pre-Saban times, are terrified of coach leaving because all of this craziness they been talking is coming home to roost. To not consider a loss is illogical. OP wasn't talking to the rational. He was talking to that crazy fan that poisoned the trees at Auburn. The people who think their opinions are more important than the actual players. The people who forget this is a game. There's more of them than us pure-souls.

On any given week, any team can win/lose. No one can ask a player and team to do their "best" on any given game win/lose. However, one can fairly expect individual effort of players to perform to the best of their ability as a team. To this end, the team falls woefully short of this standard. Win/lose, to the best of the team's ability, not talent, and heart. Upon critical examination, can anyone say this year's team has performed to the "best" of their ability? Has this "PROGRAM" fallen short of the standard they've set for the rest of college football to emulate? They are "said" to have the "top talents" in college football, but "talents" alone don't win the tough games, it's the heart of the team that win the tough games. It is "HEART" that comes through in the "DEFINING MOMENTS" that reveals the "FIGHT" in the team. Where's the FIGHT????

FizzyBox I'm right there with you. I appreciate this team. It proves how Golden Saban and his program truly is. When you know real football and truly innerstand the game. You can see it for what it is, and respect it. This is a darn good football team. Not because of skill or athleticism. But the resiliency of finding ways to win, and the determination to carry on tradition. This is the makings of some potent winners deep down at Heart. They're not to be denied. Saban has had great teams in the past that has lost early in the season and still went on to win the Natty.

Saban has -- EARNED -- his respect. However, "Unless your one of those self absorbed pessimistic fans..." statement negate -- legitimate -- criticism of THIS YEAR's team and its performance on and off the field. Saban, this year, does not have the same level of control of his previous teams, especially the performance and player's attitude and dedication vis-a-vis last year's team. This year's team is soft, spoiled, "self-absorb", sense of entitlement, directionless and individual selfishness. A FAR CRY from last year's team of selflessness and the drive for excellence. NO. Criticisms does not necessarily means "self-absorbed" and unbecoming of "Bama fans". Calling out "tripe" for what it is is not "fair weather" or "bandwagon" fans. "Lost touch with reality?" Let examine this, did the players and recruits know the demands of the academic and athletic program? Were they told this will be a "challenge of their intestinal fortitude?" Were they given promises this will be a cake walk and a bed of roses? Even a bed of roses is laden with thorns. They were recruited and committed to the Alabama program knowing the standard of excellence and dedication demanded to compete with the "big boys." Presumably, they committed to Alabama to prove they are willing, able, and committed to the "challenging rigors" against the best competitions. So, are they men or boys? IF, they are men, then stop pampering them and offering excuses. All anyone can ask for is, give and put forth YOUR BEST EFFORT. That's all anyone can ask of these student/athletes, their best efforts. But don't offer excuses for "efforts". We are told, these are some of the BEST and TALENTED players in the nation. Can anyone say they are playing up to their talents? Don't offer excuses for their performances. Just say, yes they are underperforming. The football world knows, they are not blind and oblivious Alabama football team is playing below their "talent" level. Don't sugar coat it, just come out and say "yes we are underachieving". No excuses and no crapola.

Respect is earned not given. This year's team is full of soft undisciplined selfish players. Believing this year will be a dog and pony show, and all they have to do is show up and the win is theirs. All year excuses and cheap claims they are playing down to the competition. IF, this is true, then they are "BUMS" and not living up to the Bama standards of dedication and excellence. This team is a far cry from the preceding teams who have fought hard won battles and leaving a proud legacy for these soft pampered babies. The excuse, SEC tough schedule, hell, this is where MEN come to prove their metal against the BEST competitions. This is, supposedly, why these babies come, for the tough competition and wanting to be the best. No excuses should be accepted nor given. This is where the BIG BOYS play.
