At Wonderfest 2023, I had the opportunity to interview actor Nick Tate who played Captain Alan Carter on Space: 1999. It was a true pleasure to meet and talk with him. I thought I would share this in a separate video to make it easier to find. I'm sure you'll enjoy this video.

I have an 8×10 Space 1999 ad photo of Nick Tate as Allan Carter. The photo came with an Eagle model kit I built several years ago. I framed the photo and it is displayed with the Eagle model kit.

Absolutely wonderful video and seeing Nick talk about the show is great. He really seems like a genuinely great guy. I liked him on TNG as well. I think that was one of Will Wheaton's last episodes if I remember correctly. You mentioned something to Nick that I found that same with me. I was 12 when Space: 1999 aired here in Los Angeles in 1975 and at that time I liked series 2 better. More exciting and the monsters and more colorful sets and costumes. Space Warp is still one of my favs from Series 2. But as I have gotten older I find some of it silly and find that series 1 much more enjoyable and makes you think about the plot and get behind the characters.

Thanks so much. Yes we think alike. I loved all the added tech of course. Seeing the modifications to the eagles, laser turrets on the moon etc but the stories were much more deeper and meaningful. It would have been interesting to see what kind of show would have evolved had they continued. Universal constant....the suits at the studios often don't know what's best when it comes to creativity. Thanks again.

I was 12 years old when I was watching Space 1999 in 1973. Wow, that far back. I loved the first show, but started to lose some interest (still watched it though) during the second series. Great interview. He was one of my favourite characters too, along with Commander Koenig (Martin Landau) and of course Dr Helena Russell (Barbara Bain). Of course, the real star of the show, looking back, was the Eagle in its various forms.
