All music by Blake Carver, used with permission.
Here's another one of them videos where I go out to the desert, take lots of pictures, and make a video about it. And this one covered all sorts of bases. I was shooting 6x17 with my Shen-Hao TFC 617-A, 6x6 with my Mamiya RZ67, and even more 6x6 with my new Mamiya C220. That's right, just squares and long-skinny rectangles. 1:1 and 1:3 is what I'm all about, friends. Keep them nasty 4:5 and 2:3 aspect ratios outta here, man! I don't need them. Well, yes I do...but not on this trip!
Love monochrome, do ya? Boom, I got you. Ilford Delta, baby. How about Kodak Portra? Yessir, I got you on that too. Old buildings your thing? Say no more, friend. Scantily-clad supermodels on the beach? No...no, I don't have that. But the other stuff I got.
I had some ups and downs on this trip. At times I was really feeling that creative nectar coursing through my veins, other times I was feeling like a complete and utter hack. I suppose both things can be true at the same time. But the point is, it wasn't all perfectly smooth sailing. And that's okay. That's part of analog photography. When you're shooting film, you just don't always know if things are going well until you get back to the lab for processing. Luckily for me, things turned out well overall. I'm pleased with many of the photos, and that's the best I can hope for.
Thanks for watching!

I really love the second composition of the building with the chair in it. The frame is subdivided into four different rectangles that are each like their own photograph. Though it is "cluttered" in a sense it's also "organized" (if that makes sense) in a way that is very complex yet very pleasing.

Nick Carver is like Bob Ross. But only if he was a KZfaqr in 2020 who has seen enough shit, picked up an alcohol addiction to go through it, and is now trying to escape quarantine and leave his darkness behind, going on lone long trips to photograph the forgotten places which once played hosts to various fringe societies. He has my Respect. LOL

Just saw you put your 6x6 mask under the RZ focus screen. I just learned last week that the masks can actually be slid onto the TOP of the focusing screen, using the two small black pieces on the left and the larger one on the right. Take out your focusing screen, and slide the mask top to bottom. Fits just right and allows you to still see your LEDs at the bottom. Doesn't really make a difference focus-wise, but I find it a better, tighter fit for my masks. Thanks for the vid, as usual. I just picked up a C220 myself last night and got so excited by your excellent shots. Keep 'em coming!

Well, well... hello again my SoCal Brother. Not sure how I let this vid slip through my impeccable filtering process when it comes to my email box, but I got to thinking today; "I haven't seen any videos from Nick Caver lately". So I turned on the internet machine, pulled up your channel and low and behold... a gift. This looked like a fun trip. Maybe a little frustrating, but mostly fun. This series of old abandoned buildings may seem a little repetitive, but when you drive past one of them in the future and it's gone, you're going to be incredibly glad you took the time. I think the overall aesthetic is pleasing to the eye and very tasty to my northern boreal forest sensibilities. Thanks for yet another instalment and if you think that chair looks kinda creepy, well... I think there might be a body buried in the concrete right in front of it. Have a great weekend!

Great video. I really like the first wide angle version of the interior shot with the lounger. There is so much to that photo. The chair, the shadow areas and then almost looking like a strip of film frames looking through the window. I like the placement of the telegraph poles. It's a picture with a lot of individual stories in it.

I'm always amazed at how many cameras you have. I have three (two analogue and one digital) and my wife reminds me every day to finally downsize the camera collection. 🙂Great video!
