King Louie is an original character created for the movie. He was originally supposed to be voiced by Louis Armstrong, but Disney knew there would be a backlash if a black man voiced an ape, so he was replaced by Louis Prima. Prima enjoyed the role so much that he asked Disney for an expanded part. And some more fun facts: There was supposed to be another new character named Rocky The Rhino, but Disney eventually dropped him from the movie.

I love this movie so much. The only problem I have with it is the fact that Mowgli didn’t get to say goodbye to his wolf family. And that they weren’t seen or mentioned again for the rest of the film. They were his family for ten years, it makes me unhappy with Bagheera. If you knew he would have to return to the Man Village then why leave him with the wolves for so long?
@Nicamon

My main problem with this movie *is the ending!* I get that the _real_ reason Bagheera wanted to bring Mowgli to the Human Village was to make him grow among his own kind,but the EXCUSE everyone used for the whole movie was that Shere Khan was too dangerous and too anti-human. By the end of the movie *Shere Khan is gone* and Mowgli STILL ends up in the Human Village all because he met a cute chick! *NO!* 🤬💢 He should have stayed with his animal friends and family!That's the *only* thing I appreciated of the remake:the different ending!!OR,at the very least,make him spy on the Human Village and making him see _all kinds of humans_ grown ups,children,males,females and let me understand he's being curious about them all and _that's_ why he decides to meet them...making him abandon his home and family just for a random girl is almost *offensive!* Possibly realistic..maybe..but offensive!>^

Didn’t stop him from contributing to other familiar studios like Hanna-Barbera in the 70s for TV and several independent animated TV specials, but those were short-lived and Disney brought him back.

I ‘ve seen some people argue that Mowgli’s a brat for not wanting to leave the Jungle for his own safety; I’d honestly argue that Baghera is far more unbearable to watch in this version. Maybe it's just me but, I view Bagheera as like an overly protective parent figure. He knows ((or at least thinks he knows)) what's the best for his kid & said kid isn't being as cooperative as he thinks the kid should be. Therefore, he gets huffy & storms off. Not trying to say that it's a good reason for Bagheera to act like that but, sometimes parents can be just as overdramatic ((if not more so)) than their kids.
@sardonicus1739
@sardonicus1739 2 жыл бұрын
Personally I think he was extremely valid to walk off. We're forgetting about who's doing who a favor here, or the fact this is a panther we're dealing with which aren't social animals or ones known to show mercy, and yet he still does. Baghera had no reason to protect that child in the first place, but still did it out of the goodness of his heart. If it hadn't been for him specifically Mowgli would have died at multiple points. Mowgli not only shows no appreciation for him going out of his way to protect him and walk him miles through the jungle on his back, the kid actively antagonizes him for even trying to protect the him. The kid isn't just a brat. He has a sense of arrogance in himself that's utterly obnoxious and delusional. Frankly that kid kind of deserves to get a taste of reality and actually see he's not invincible. I always took it that Baghera deep down never would have really walked away from Mowgli in a serious manner where he's not still looking out for him, but is letting Mowgli try things himself so that he might finally realize that maybe he can't do everything by himself. Sometimes you have to give a kid a little bit of space for them to figure things out themselves, and learn to appreciate things more. I don't think a child can learn anything if you constantly hover over them and tell them what's right and wrong and what they should do, cuz that brings in their natural desire to rebel. It feels like a parent seeing their child have a temper tantrum and instead of validating that, instead walking away from it and letting the kid burn themselves out before coming back.
@monsterhanna6691
@monsterhanna6691 2 жыл бұрын
@@sardonicus1739 And one thing to keep in mind is that not only is Mowgli a kid--probably not reaching puberty yet--but also lived in the jungle most of his life. It makes sense for him to act this way.
@sardonicus1739
@sardonicus1739 2 жыл бұрын
@@monsterhanna6691 I'd say the opposite makes sense actually. Think about the sort of life a child would realistically have in the jungle. Going hungry would come often, as well as eating the raw flesh of other animals once he got old enough that he could no longer survive on just wolf milk. Danger would be everywhere in this world he'd know as there are predators all over the place. Death would be everywhere as well. We know he's aware of the concept of death since he thought Baloo was dead towards the end. For him to be this fearless makes no sense at all in his environment. He has the attitude of someone who grew up extremely sheltered and spoiled, and is completely unaware of his own mortality not the attitude of someone who would have had to struggle for survival all the time.

One of Walt’s last films he got to oversee production of, but didn’t live to see the final product. During one Comic-Con, Disney animator Floyd Norman once told the story that The Jungle Book was significant in his career. How? Despite being one of the studio’s first black animators, he said that Walt Disney himself used to appoint him in charge of some work. At one point, Norman was nervous to be in his presence when he shared an elevator with him by himself. Walt was more interested in his drawings that he was holding in his hand and had him directly involved with several projects.

Bagheera the panther is willing to help Mowgli, but unlike the wolves he doesn't have the Pack mindset. Panthers are generally loners. A female might have had more of that nurturing side to handle Mowgli's stubbornness, but male panthers generally spend their lives alone. So you can't really blame the guy for getting impatient with Mowgli. But I always liked that whenever he left, he never went too far away. He was always able to get back quickly when trouble arose.

My favorite parts of this movie as an adult watching it now are the conversations between all the animal characters, specifically Baloo and Bagherra. Real conversations about caring about someone other than yourself… I love the vulture’s Friends song, I wish the more upbeat part was longer! Also nothing can beat Baloo in drag distracting King Louie..

It‘s funny that King Louie is on a technical Level a Rogue, trying to steal Fire 🔥 from humankind, but he is so likable and goofy, that they made him a nice friend in every other media. You forget that he kidnaps Mogwli very easy. He lost his home at the end 🏠 , that is lesson enough for him.

I don't know if you know this, but this was the last film that Walt Disney was involved in. He died before it was released, and they were worried they couldn't do it without it, or if it would even be successful. Fortunately, it was, and I'm sure Walt Disney would be proud. Also, Phil Harris voices Baloo, the bear; he also voiced Thomas 'O Malley in the Aristocats, and Little John in Robin Hood.

imagine if Kaa was a giant flatworm like creature, like the cryptids El Ceuro and Xizi... instead of coils, there will be the coat of cilia on edges of their bodies, and then' each time a larger part of his flat-body raach the man-cub body's after the tail keep foraward' he close the the edges of his waevy-coat behind his back like a sleeping bag, and continues. when he reach to his neck' he will close and press from each side with his cillia coat sides - "Gulp"

The one difference I find surprising is that Kaa originally didn’t play an antagonistic role in the original book. When Mowgli was captured by the Bandar-Log/monkeys, Kaa actually hypnotized the whole gang to bring them to a different part of the jungle so that Bagheera and Baloo could get him out.

As a kid, I got a bit confused how Baloo and Bagheera got those black eyes, when they got them but I noticed in later years that Bagheera get his when Baloo accidently hits him with the door, and most likely Baloo got his when the rock hits his head as they flee from the falling ruins. By the way, Louie's laughting comes from The Song of the South, where Br'er Rabbit laughs like a maniac and convinces Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox to lead him to their Laughing Place (Fox is suspcious but is forced by Bear who wants to see it, only for them to be leading to a trap and Br'er Rabbits freedom).

I really hope you get to check out the live action Jungle Book that came out in 2016! It was early in the recent “remake wave”, so I argue that it’s the best we’ve gotten so far. It really improves on a lot of aspects of the characters and story and feels a lot more like an action adventure flick. It also delves a little more into Mowgli’s backstory and his relationship with the wolves.

Hey, if you’re not a fan of “Bare Necessities,” I respect that. Everyone is entitled to their opinions after all. Personally, I liked it, along with the other songs. Also, the only things that I will say that I liked better about the 2016 remake of this film was that Shere Khan was developed more, and Mowgli’s wolf family played a larger role this time around. Aside from that, this 1967 version was the superior film. And yeah, I liked the ending, even though Mowgli should have said goodbye to Bagheera, and Baloo before heading into the man village. Well, great reaction yet again! Oh, fun fact, the four vultures were originally supposed to be voiced by the Fab Four (aka the Beatles), but got voiced by different people instead. Oh well! Yeah, I loved nearly all of the characters in this film.

This certainly has a more of that slapstick vibe of the classic Disney films, say unlike the 90s animation where the physics felt somewhat more grounded, like Lion King, you can imagine if it were made in the 60s, Mufasa's fall would have ended in a comedic fashion lol

Here's some fun (and one not-so-fun) facts behind this film: - The guys behind the music are the Sherman Brothers. They're the same duo responsible for the music of The AristoCats, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and a host of Disney Park songs from attractions like It's A Small World, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Carousel of Progress. - Phil Harris, the voice of Baloo, is also the voice of Thomas O'Malley in AristoCats and Little John in Robin Hood. - And, now, for the not-so-fun fact: Walt Disney ended up passing away during the production of this film, making this the first film released after Walt's death. The AristoCats would be the last movie green-lit by Disney himself and Robin Hood would be the first film released without Walt's involvement.

Baloo should consider himself lucky that Shere Khan was SO PISSED that he chose to slash him to death, rather than bite him in the throat, like a tiger would have done to kill a sloth bear in real life. That gave the vultures time to distract Khan, so Mowgli could tie a branch to his tail, before he could finish the job.
