Till´s (leadsinger, songwriter) lyrics, poetry an play on words is insane and is absolutely worth exploring. They are known for their social criticism and not afraid to pick up controversial topics and events. Although probably the best live band ever, their music videos are artistic masterpieces as well as they add a second and third layer of interpretation with their imagery and acting skills. Hi 53 year old ARMY from New Zealand. I've been reintroducing myself to Rammstein recently. So I was super excited to see that you were going to look at them for the first time. Loved your reaction. Now that you've seen this, you have to see Du Hast live in Paris. It's literally compulsory. Till Lindemann is a phenomenal front man. There is no one else like him. His forerunners would have been David Bowie, Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne. One of my favourite videos is Mein Herz Brennt (piano version) that features Till performing it for the camera. This is where you see a clear glimpse of his genius. This guy is 60 years old and still freaking killing it. As a band the closest thing I could possibly compare them to (with my limited knowledge) might be, is if Tool and Nightwish had a baby and it's godparents were Prince and Marilyn Manson lol. I also recommend the progressive rock band Polyphia - Playing for God and Ego death (featuring guitar legend Steve Vai)- these songs don't have lyrics, but the band will expand your range in music. And Tim Henson is a complete guitar god. I reckon you'd like them.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. The live performance are generally better, with a couple of exceptions IMO. The pyrotechnics are amazing live. 'Mein Teil' or 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' are other good live tracks to break down. The one official video I'd recommend which would suit your usual breakdown style would be 'Deutschland', covering a lot of German history. You could always have the English translation open in another window to run through. And keep an eye out for the treadmill under the keyboard. lol

Yes!!!! Rammstein’s the shit. They’ve been blowing minds since the 90’s haha. This song is from their sophomore album titled ‘Sehnsucht’. It dropped in 1997 and had some classic bangers on it. Some recommendations (in no particular order): -Zeit -Angst -Mein Herz Brennt (there’s a piano version as well as the original version and they’re both INCREDIBLE. My personal favorite would be the piano version…can’t watch it without crying lol) -Deutschland -Radio -Du Hast (live/Paris) -Ich Tu Dir Weh (Live/MSG) -Links 234 (Live/Paris) -Mien Teil (Live/Paris) -Keine Lust -Amerika -Mein Land -Ausländer -Zick Zack -Dicke Titten -Adieu I HIGHLY recommend having the translated lyrics on hand for future Rammstein songs. Till (lead singer) is a very accomplished poet and a lot of their lyrics read like poetry even in English. But, it could also be taken as a flat out rejection of god or something else, that’s the thing with their lyrics…they’re open ended by design so there’s always multiple interpretations to be had! The area in front of the stage is called the Fire Zone and there are fans who refuse to go there. If their concerts were initially music with fire, it is now fire with music. They face the challenge of having to surpass themselves on every tour and are now including the whole sold-out stadium. They need a week to set up one of their stages: Rammstein - Europe Stadium Tour (Time Lapse) This concert was the first in 10 years with no concerts in the US and sold out in minutes. On the previous tour, they were arrested during the show for simulating sodomy on stage. The singer and keyboardist were sentenced to probation and a fine for indecent exposure. In order not to violate the terms of their probation (and because the firefighters were annoying them) they stopped giving concerts. Singer Til was once asked by a US reporter what the lyrics are about. He replied: All about love. What Til didn't say, it's the dark side of love: possession, desecration of corpses, cannibalism, ... There texts are not always easy to translate because they contain quotations or play with the meaning of words. Some things get lost in translation. The gauntlet is holding the controls for the Wings, flames and explosives. Rammstein is very very intense live and very exact with their equipment. The lead has a pyrotechnic license and they take security very serious. (Sure, if you are in the front, at one of their concerts you will feel the heat, so best be prepared for that) By now the Band travels with their own stage... and even back when they did Madison Square Garden, the equipment the Band brought with them needed 7 Boings for transport. If I remember correctly, this was the encore, meaning they'd already played for round about 2 hours... those wings are heavy as fuck, welded metal things ... I am once again surprised that he still can sing with 50 kg of weight pulling at his back.

Here are some suggestions: "Sonne" (Live at Download Festival 2016) --> Hot as the name giving sun (Sonne = Sun) "Ich tu Dir weh" (Hurricane Festival / Rammstein Official) --> Great singing and insane stage action towards the end) "Mein Teil" (Live Hurricane Festival 2013) --> Read the story behind the song (a real case of cannibalism!) first „Willst Du das Bett in Flammen Sehn" (Paris Version) --> Pyro Fashion, power, everything that Rammstein stands for "Benzin" (Madison Square Garden) --> Benzin = Gasoline --> burns well. And maybe also a man? There are of course a lot more insane live videos of them: "Links 2,3,4", "Mutter", "Feuer Frei", "Ich will", ... Have fun and rock on! Paris is more a concert movie with post production and released as Directors Cut“. You have to be aware that here a German band is playing in Paris / New York and the French / American audience is singing along in German. There is so much going on / happening, there are hidden hints, … that even as a German (like I am) you cannot get everything in one, two ore three times watching it. For something completely different but awesome as well: "Mein Herz brennt", but the acoustic version! Just a piano and tills voice. And tills facial expressions are so haunting and fit perfect o the lyrics. "Ich tu Dir weh" (from Madison Square Garden) has an incredible live show, fantastic singing and lyrics that could get a label "parental advisory", as thy deal with SM. BUT, they there is a plot twist in the lyrics that is not that easy to get and which makes you look different on the "story".

Good luck trying to extract yourself from the rabbit hole that is Rammstein. 😂 That whole contraption on Till's back weighs around 50kg, or roughly 105 lbs. Till in his younger years was on the selection for the GDR's Olympic swimteam. He has kept in shape since then.
