She has the same basic rights (against self incrimination, to a speedy trial, right to counsel, to remain silent and what not) in the Netherlands, with the added benefit that the police don’t put you in jail for silly small misdemeanors or low level victimless felonies. Just make a statement at the police station, with legal representation if you so desire, and be on your way with a fine. And if they want to prosecute you, you’re not remanded in jail for small offenses. Oh, and our police are actually quite nice and down to earth. Not trigger happy and on a power trip. So yeah, poor Nicki. 😂

Only correction, innocent people get arrested and jailed all the time. Some even killed. Yeah she broke the law because marijuana is so horrible. They took her. I get that. But your statement on don't give them a reason doesn't work. And I'm not talking about any type of privilege. I'm with you there. But people get placed in jail or fined all the time. Cops will harass someone who is dirt poor looking for reasons to give them a fine they knew can't pay. Happens all the time. Life isn't fair but that also means following the law doesn't secure you. The laws are definitely different in the Netherlands but in general way less strict especially in prosecuting. And regarding to drugs we have the softest regulations for drug crimes in the western world. Luckily for her it was in the Netherlands though.

It can suck sometimes, but when dealing with law enforcement, sometimes the best and fastest thing that you can do is just comply and get it over with. Once you're free and have the right people around you, then you can right any wrongs done against you. I'm not a really a Nicki fan, but she handled the situation pretty well.
