It's sad how they give away so much for the sake of the good times. As a person who's experienced similar things, I can say that this song almost accurately describes the feelings. (and again, I could be wrong about the message this song was supposed to give)

I love it so much because it’s portrayed so beautifully, and can be seen from many different aspects, it really shows what the person(in this case the girl) goes through just to make the other person happy by staying silent and telling herself that everything will be okay, and she’ll make the best of it, even if it kills her slowly until she becomes nothing but an empty shell of who she once was.

This song is heartbreaking and beautiful! I had a situation like this for so long.. My girlfriend was able to get me out of it. It's funny, my current girlfriend is the one who got me away from my first toxic love. That really shows how special she is and how much she loves me. My first love was 4 years older than me. I'm 15 now and I met her before I turned 13 over 2 years ago... I was so naïve and easily manipulated. The girl I loved trapped me and every time I would gather the courage to leave her, she'd pull me back and *I* would be the sorry one for ever leaving her. Toward the end, she started giving me less and less attention but still kept me around and only used me as a thing to dump her crap on... It really hurt being used for what felt like years. It was only about a year and a half but that's so long for such a young teen. I learned from that situation and am a lot more mature now. I tried to see the best in her. "Well sometimes she helps" "she's funny" "She told me she loved me" We started off so happy. We met through her stopping me from committing suicide. She confessed to me that she liked me 5 months later (I hadn't even seen her face or heard her voice yet... It was online) during a fight. She only did it to make me stay. To give me something to be responsible for. I confessed to her too, even though she knew I loved her from the start. She never agreed to starting a relationship with me but told me if we did start dating that she "only dates for courtship" so basically I had to dedicate my life to her and never have the choice of leaving if I decided to be with her. Thank God something in me said NO. She turned 18 in August, about a month after I left her for the final time. Thank God I'm free. Thank God I'm with someone who really loves me.
