With this advice, I went undefeated in a draft I did with my cousins. Drafed a sick R/B deck, and since I won I got to go home with the lion's share of the rares - including a nice copy of Urza Lord Protector and an Underground River to boot.

Springleaf Drum, Chromatic Lantern, Astral Cornucopia probably the better mana fixing options from the Old Style artifacts you might open as well.

You're probably right, but it is better, in my opinion, to plan around the cards that are most likely to pop, which are commons and uncommons.

Wait chromatic lantern was in a set from like 2019 iirc? I used it at the release of dominaria/ Ixalan etc on arena.. can’t remember now maybe it was a reprint then ?

Another potentially relevant combo to keep in mind is Cradle Clearcutter + Tawnos’s Tinkering. It is an unexpected way to ramp and have more mana than expected, especially if you have other pump spells. The clearcutter can also turn giant growth into a dark ritual. If you are doing heavy ramp things and have a Clearcutter combat tricks are likely a higher priority pick.

Good call! I totally glossed over that card and missed that it had Flash. Luckily it doesn't look very good to me, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. It is a bit expensive to cast, so it is easier to expect some instant speed trickery in combat by the time a player has the ability to deploy Supply Drop.

Wish I'd seen this before my prerelease. I found success with the artifact creatures, having about half artifact creatures and splashing four other colors. Mana fixing wasn't much of an issue.

I love the idea of getting some some OG turn 2 or 3 winners.Or I could see some decks cranking out power stones and slamming down big artifact creatures. Theyll probably just get removed before they swing unless they have/get haste though

Thanks for this video #BrotherBattler. Black definitely seems strongest (just for common removal alone but it’s bombs are also strong). All the mill 3 get one back creatures are great (esp W, G and Black ones hit most the time) Gearing up for an RCQ this weekend.

13:14 does battery bearer draw you cards even if you cast a mana value 6 or greater artifact for it's cheaper prototype cost? If so that's pretty sweet

Nope. While they are on the stack Prototype cards have the mana value they are being cast for.

Having played a little bit of limited, I'd almost say that the color strength rankings should be flipped. White has a ton of good, synergistic cards at common, as does red. Black has strong removal, but I have not been impressed by either it or blue. Green is solid, as usual, and makes a great generic support color for some larger creatures, but regardless, I can't fathom ranking white at the bottom in this limited format.

Unearth is an activated ability that can be used in the graveyard and Prison Sentence essentially eliminates the creature without putting it in the graveyard. This prevents your opponent from getting the extra value from Unearth.

I'll be honest, for some reason I read that card as being an Uncommon every time I saw it. I went through all the cards many times but it just went into the wrong section of my brain. I do think the card is good in certain spots, but it is more situational than it looks because it sometimes takes longer than you'd think to get a small creature into the graveyard.

@@12post no. the CMC of a card with prototype is the more expensive one. The only time the mana value is cheaper is when you have played it for cheaper and it is still on the field. Recommission cannot grab Fleshgorger

Do you think mono colored decks might be a thing? Like in Eldraine?

I don't think monocolored decks will be super common, though you can probably build one if the right situation presents itself and you are doing it with the right color (Black in particular just has so many good cards). Throne of Eldraine had vast amounts of support for monocolored decks and a whole mechanic (Adamant) that rewarded you for doing it (along with the 4 pip hybrid uncommons that often fit nicely into monocolored decks). By comparison, Brothers' War has a cycle of Uncommons that get boosted if you have a lot of the same basic land. The incentive just isn't the same.

Limited is based mainly on Commons and Uncommons while Constructed is usually based on Rares and Mythics. This means that a color being strong in Draft doesn't always mean it is strong in Constructed. It definitely could happen, but they are often less connected than one would think.
