ABOUT KIM'S CONVENIENCE:
"Kim's Convenience" depicts a Korean Canadian Kim family that runs a convenience store in the Moss Park neighbourhood of Toronto: parents "Appa" (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) and "Umma" (Jean Yoon) - Korean for dad and mom, respectively - along with their daughter Janet (Andrea Bang) and estranged son Jung (Simu Liu). Other characters include Jung's friend and coworker Kimchee (Andrew Phung) and his manager Shannon (Nicole Power). The series is based on Ins Choi's 2011 play of the same name. Mr. and Mrs. Kim have worked hard to give their now-twenty-something children, Janet and Jung, a better life in Canada. This comedy finds laughter in the trials of running a literal 'Mom and Pop' shop while raising kids in a culture not quite your own.

I loved Shannon, she really fit with the cast so well and had amazing chemistry with everybody. 🙏 Nicole is such a breath of fresh air and even though she’s getting some criticism for having the only spin off show (which I do understand) but I’m personally happy to see this character continue

I think it was inevitable that Simu Liu was going to become a movie star. The show deserved to go 100 episodes though. They should do a movie to give the show a proper finale.

It makes me so sad to know how hard the korean cast members had to fight for their voices and accurate + respectful portrayals while filming. I hope these stars know that revealing their struggles with scripts/producers/cultural inaccuracies on set is such a helpful and honorable thing to do. It's clear that these actors are knowledgeable and each have their own impressive paths - I am rooting for them all the way.

A TV show that is a runaway hit is like getting struck by lightning. So rare. It results from a serendipitous blend of writers, directors, and actors. The actors were mostly Asians; the writers mostly non-Asian. In other words, mixed--just like the US and Canada. That's where the magic came from. Trying to socially engineer this chemistry in the name of better "cultural accuracy" would likely have failed. Whatever the "cultural inaccuracies," KC was funny, very positive, and heartwarming.

@@TheCognient That's not the point. In a comedy with a predominant Asian cast, the only white girl in the show gets her own spinoff comedy. That's what bothers a lot of people.

I love this girl. She was so funny as Shannon and where she had to emote she did amazingly well too. Really miss Kim’s Convenience. The ending did not do justice to the characters.

Im really happy for her getting her own show but I'm also sad cause - spoilers - that's the reason her and Jung had to brake up in the finally so they could keep her story going without him. But them ending up together was my #1 hope for the series

I would say I can't believe they killed this show, but at my age now, 68, do you know how many shows I've committed to that "THEY" have killed off, because BLAH BLAH BLAH. There's always some reason that's... well, I don't watch much TV anymore. And by TV I mean shows that you would get into, and get involved with the characters, and etc. I subscribe to KZfaq. Right now that's all. The murder of Kim's Convenience was just the absolute last straw...haha until another great one comes along, or I croak. That show needed a couple of seasons more to work through some good things in the plot, imho. Bye Bye

If you want a show with a satisfying plot, character development and follows its commitments, I recommend Parks and Rec. If you haven't seen it already. It's a charming comedy with a very satisfying ending of 7 Seasons. But if you're looking for something quirkier, there's a British Dark Comedy called The League of Gentleman, (which started as a Radio Programme) it also has a great feature-length film & Live theatre performance. The creators also made Psychoville, Inside No.9 and STAG.
