I kept shouting "NO!! NOT AGAIN!!!" in the background... i was furious... but then i heard ballad of the twins and they ran past 9s which basically made my day. I was so happy and felt welcomed when i played this game because they kept throwing references to the first one which i fucking loved. I loved it so much that i would just stand anywhere in the map just to hear the songs. It is also the first game that actually made me shed tears for it's casts. I was happy that nier automata also got those things right.

I honestly do not understand who the hell they are and I only started in nier automata so I dont know wtf is going on with thier story. while they said that the first nier is only for ps3 and i guess i wont be able to play it. So just I pokerfaced ready to fight them and concluding they are the one who cause those cannibal things but i ended up depressed with their thoughts great

i haven't played the first nier, but from what I've seen it would've been better to have. although this is definitely my favorite game i've played in quite awhile.

The fact that the guilt they feel was programmed into them makes it even worse.

If the Androids and Machines put their differences aside, they could remake humanity. Though all the original humans were lost from the Gestalt Project, and the Replicants have been wiped out. They still have the information of the old world. They have the will to want to live. Pascal showed that the machines could live off the network. That they could grow to understand each other without it and gain a soul. Adam and Eve showed that the machines can evolve. They can become more human. Though humanity is gone, it doesn't mean the remnants of humanity cannot continue on in their place. 2B, 9S, Yohra, and the machines showed they were human plenty of times, even when they didn't understand what that meant.

No what ever genetic material that is on the moon could not be salvaged to recreate humanity, the androids actually tried and failed to use this method. Humanity is just 100 percent gone for good. It's errie exploring humanity lost civilation in this games, walking up a broken escalator in a structure that use to be a shopping mall thousands of years ago for a species who is long extinct. The folly humanity made is putting all effort into saving the existing population instead of preserving genetic material that could be used to recreate humanity anew. Devola and Popala would have been better suited for this task. Unfortunately humanity bad decides to use the crazy elaborate replicate Gestalt method which failed miserably. I mean the freakin cloned replicate were living being and the plan was to essentially steal their bodies to make room for someone else mind, I mean WTF man. What I am wondering now is that are the more advanced Yorha android now all gone due to the destruction of the bunker. Are there more Devola and Popala still operational. I felt real sorry for Devola and Popala reading all the shit they went through only to die in the end as a penance for something they themselves did not commit.

When I say their data is on the moon I don't mean for the machines to recreate humans, I'm talking about analyzing the server on the Moon that held the remaining information on humans that Devola and Popola sent there. Though there's probably enough data still on Earth for them to learn more of humanity. As we saw with the machines, they were evolving. They were becoming more human the further you went through the game. When they disconnected from the Server they had to learn how to communicate with each other through words and actions, making them even more human. They wanted families. They adopted brothers, sisters, and even children. With Yohra's destruction I believe the remaining Androids and Machines can try to coexist. Once again, seeing how they were able to befriend Pascal I have high hopes that more machines will find that peaceful meaning in their lives. However, we also saw that crazy cult of machines and alot of pure evil machines aswell. Just like humans, the machines are so varied in personality and how they react to others. Ultimately I feel they will end up destroying themselves in the end which is sad, but it feels very likely. Though if Adam and Eve were to try and unite the machine kind, there's a chance maybe not? And this isn't even mentioning the remaining Resistance Androids and the Yohra types. Could they ever truly coexist after the years of killing each other's friends and loved ones?

I think most of the machines are gone in NIER Automata's endings anyways--either destroyed when the tower broke apart or left Earth to find a new home for themselves. Surviving androids, however, have proven that they can evolve.

It's really impressive how they manage to find ways to subtly reinforce the "everything is doomed to repeat itself" message they've spun

We all can have hope that other twins around the world have better fate than this two in Automata and Replicant.

Just think of it as a new route. After playing replicant did you go through automata again?

Right? In that way, playing Nier or Nier Replicant before Automata is higly rewarding, because you can get the whole experience. Not only with Devola & Popola, but also with the Project Gestalt archives, Emil's side quest, the Library inside the tower, etc.

The best thing is, in Automata the same way the player, after playing Replicant, assumes they're about to attack 9S and they don't, is exactly the same discriminatory attitude they faced their whole lives. Just because of the Devola and Popola from another town.

They did fail humanity.

Yeah you're right. They're not the same. I just felt so conflicted. Nier Kaine and Emil have been friends with them for so long. It's all just so sad. But all the other Dev and Pop models shouldn't be responsible for the two you encountered in NieR. In the end the Dev and Pop models were only doing their jobs for the humans. It's not a good or bad side thing, it's just a different belief kinda thing. :(

@@AxisKoi yeah, and afterwards i honestly felt like even after how they manipulated both NieR and the Shadowlord, how they used Kalil and P-33, The Aerie, Fyra, the wolf shade, and now Louise as scapegoats and still letting project Gestalt fail because of the way they handled the situation, i honestly felt i could forgive them.

Yup, and in the original game its the song that places in the main town you start in, but the vocals dont come in untill you approach Devola by the fountain, who is singing the song, and then they also fade away as you get away from her. It was literally the best thing.

Hardly, NieR fought extremely powerful magic users who could literally explode a chunk of the world. 9S and 2B just fought robots with mild destructive power. The most powerful creature in Automata's world appears to be Grum, and he ain't that much.

Hardly. Emil's in Automata were clearly out of control and couldn't fight, all they could do was throw attacks around, which is quite visible. Fighting something that thinks is on another level. Also Emil is not as powerful as Automata fans want you to think, Emil could BARELY hold back the blast of a full burst Popola.

It is the message he want to send out. People (in NieR world, android) will judge you base on your type (race/religion in our world). sadly, they themselves also thinks that and wanted to redeem by doing this.

For standalone automata players, the twins were medic, scorn upon by others, badass fighters in the end. And to make up for "The Past Mistake" *music playing with lyrics*, they wanted to make this "right" by helping 9S. When they stand infront of the door 9S trying to break into, players will linked to "movie/drama/anime" scene where they going to turn into bad guys. For both NieR/Drakengard series players, it have brought flashback memories to the previous series and I started to read back what I played few years back.
