Even ignoring that, the fact that 9S was able to push back A2 despite being infected with 85% of the logic virus is a much more impressive feat than the flight units or the 2B models he fought.

Well, I think Platinum Games should get some of the credit for managing to make a more coherent mix of these gameplay genres. The transitions between action RPG, shoot 'em up, kinetic novel, and story cutscenes would be excessively jarring when used by people who have no idea what they're doing. They know their craft well. Yoko Taro knew what he wanted when he tested things out back in Gestalt. Platinum delivered just that.

Seems like both androids and machine lifeforms struggle a lot when it comes to organic creatures though. This is shown in the sidequest with the animal loving machine when 2B and 9S needed to make medicine for a sick moose, and both parties were exceedingly puzzled despite how simple it all is. It would almost be akin to trying to understand how aliens works. If they struggle with making a simple cure for a moose, I daresay that making a human clone, let alone several that promote gene diversity to repopulate the human race would be quite beyond them. MAYBE Adam would've eventually researched a way given his desire to understand humans and how they tick, but well... he did die off relatively early, all things considered.

He didn't have a choice but to team up, but yeah, it is pretty ironic that in the end, they make for an incredible team (maybe even moreso than when he was paired up with 2b).
