Your dog's well being depends on many factors e.g food, safety, leadership, exercise, stimulation etc. If you have a reactive dog it is hard to exercise them sufficiently. So in this video I share what I do to exercise and stimulate Dante. In doing this reduces his stress and therefore makes it easier to introduce him to dogs.
How I exercise & stimulate a reactive dog by Nigel Reed. There are 8 episodes in the series Diary of rescue dog.
Disclaimer: if you have any aggression issues with your dog be sure to complete my online course on nervousness and aggression before implementing any advice given on my KZfaq videos as a complete oversight of the method with careful management is needed.

** PS: I NEED YOUR HELP **
My goal is to better the lives of #onemilliondogs in my lifetime. It is clearly impossible for me to do this on a one to one basis. I have seen that with around every thousand views on my videos, I get a comment or email thanking me and letting me know the video has helped. So working on that basis, I have to make videos on how to address every problem
behaviour and accumulate ONE billion views in order to help 1,000,000 dogs.
You can help me reach #onemilliondogs by (1) subscribing to my channel and (2) give this video a thumbs up - so KZfaq suggests this video to more dog owners and we can help 1,000,000 dogs all over the world. Thank you so much!
** THANK YOU **

Thanks, Nigel. I had never though of using a lead until you mentioned it on a prior video. I ordered just a 30 foot to begin. Our Springer LOVES it. We don't have a fenced in yard and this allows her to run 60' or in a circle as fast as she can. Always a pocket full of treats to work on the recall. Frankie is a COVID baby at 1.5 years...and has a lot of socialization to complete. We love your videos and advice. Mark

Dear Nigel, I am so happy I have discovered your video's! Thank you so much for sharing your excellent teachings. Your video's with Woody, Jessy, the two chocolate labs and Dante are helping us so much to guide and help our two dogs. One is a 15 months year old Greek rescue we have adopted 5 weeks ago. She is afraid, unsure and freezes or flights. We guide her as best as we can, managing situations, creating space, building her confidence in us, her environment and herself. We will eventually get there thanks to you

Just found your videos Nigel and they are brilliant. I have a gsd 18 months and she is just so afraid of other dogs not aure why she is wired like this always been socialised. I take her to similar fields like you did with Dante. There are nondofs around ever but she is still very much on the edge and cant get her to be more relaxed 😢

Thank you. It sounds like a tough case where you'll need much more help. All issues arise from a lack of confidence in leadership/environment and what they should be doing. We must work on all 3 simultaneously to ensure one isn't negatively feeding the other.

My rescue goes completely deaf outdoors , shes not interested in treats , food lures , toys or anything .. how do I get her attention? . She just pulls, lunges etc and nothing I do can get her attention as so for used and alert on everything else.

Hi Kelly and Avril, there is always a starting point where she listens and when she switches off. Your goal should be not to go over the threshold by managing the environment. So for example if my dog panicked when it went outside I would think to myself can I walk a meter out and back in again without him panicking. If not I would do less. Once he was calm for a short distance I would then have a starting point to build on. The next two videos indirectly touch on this subject.

Really, really great video! Search is good, but tracking is better for activating and make your high energy dog tired - do a video about how to start tracking. Lot's of people/dogs would benefit from this

Hi we have been trying to practice recall on the long lead because as soon as there’s another dog around he just wants to Hurd them ( he is a nine month border collie) but he also thinks his long lead is just a toy and just gathers it up in his mouth and just plays with it which makes it hard for us to practice recall with it on any suggestions really enjoyed these videos thanks joel

Hi Joel, Each time he puts in his mouth take it out and move him back 5 or so meters so he makes the connection. Overtime he will realise you don't want him to do that.

Question on teaching a dog to jump. I have a 4 foot fence because of HOA rules. I don't think I should exercise my boy my jumping over training fences because he just gains knowledge he can jump a fence. He has already gone over the fence twice when we had 3 feet of snow. Your thoughts?
