He and his cohorts are the cog in the wheels of modern State police system that are strong and effective in standing firm to help subdue the bandits and terrorism ravaging Nigeria is concerned! Shehu got the concept correct! State police should be in all intents and purposes similar to Federal police system but focused on within the boundaries of the state which own and runs them. Community civil defense should be there and operates with towns and villages and assists the State police . Federal Police cannot secure Nigeria as the situation exists today . The states need well equipped and effectively provided for police to operate and compliment the federal police to put a stop to this insurgency , banditry and terrorism ! The time to implement State police system is now. Any one arguing against Stat Police doesn’t know what he saying. Innocent Nigerians have died in great numbers enough! The Nigerian army has no busines in maintenance of law and order. That is the work of the police Force. Nigeria do not know how to run a Federal system of Government, which Nigeria claim to copy from the USA. Nigeria is a secular Country and do not need a local religious police to maintain Law and order. The USA has local police, State and Highways patrol police, Forest parks and Rangers, and even transit police for transportation and so many other police force. Nigeria should go sturdy and learn on how these forces work in Countries like USA, Germany and other Countries with Federal system of Government and then implement them in Nigeria.
