I def will be tuning in to learn pidgin better. my husband is nigerian and doesn't take the time to teach me. He just expects me to catch on smh lol, as I expect him to catch on to my african american vernacular lol It's fun learning the language, how you all pronounce words, I find funny lol

(I accidentally told 2 beautiful Yoruba ladies I met at work my favourite phrase is wa je gba. We were having a fun and light conversation. I wanted to regain my Nigerian accent due to the fact i was born in the U.S and I used to be very good at speaking it, when I didn’t go back home for 6 years I lost the accent. ( my parents are Nigerian and so are my siblings)

May I ask for an example with the word gbam ? It’s like I say gbam when someone do well and I agree wit am ? Like🤔 I call that person by gbam or it is how I express myself and it is the same as if I would say “you’re right”?😅 I’m trying to understand it better , I no get well

It means different things. It could mean, “the cat has been let out of the bag”. It could also mean that something is popular or rampant. For example, A fast fashion piece of clothing that everyone has…. You can say, “that Shien T-Shirt don cast.”

If you’ve been hiding a pregnancy or a new job and somehow someone reveals it to a large number of people … I could say “Aminat pregnancy don cast” or “Aminat belle don cast”….. meaning it’s no longer news… everyone now knows😂

I doubt it. I Gbadun you can pass by it doesn’t outrightly mean I love you. It can mean different things. Your love dey burst my dada also doesn’t mean “I LOVE YOU” That one can be used with someone you are already in a romantic/intimate relationship with but how do you tell someone from scratch that you love them?

There are some similarities between your Nigerian Pidgin and Jamaican Patois (Patwa): For ‘I’, we say, ‘Mi’ … “Mi a beg you … please”. We also say “Gi mi mi money” Your content is interesting.👍🏿
